Top MSF requirement
Assuming a student with two corporate finance internships at F500, GPA of 3.8+, and GMAT of 750+ applies to top MSF programs like Princeton, WashU, MIT? Then what are his chances like? What do these schools look for in an applicant?
1) Princeton is a MFin, not an MSF. Do you have a math background? Engineering? This will be more important for Princeton.
2) Where did you go to undergrad? What are your goals?
Those stats would get you into WUSTL for sure. MIT depends on how they are composing their class and your other elements of admissions.
I am at a non target undergrad majoring in Econ & Finance and want to work in investment banking.
Yeah, I mean with those stats you would be competitive at MIT for sure. When do you graduate and go you have this 750 GMAT already or is this just a projection?
MSF isn't going to be that beneficial for IB OP. Better for quant or PM jobs.
MFE will be good for quant jobs. MSF helps students place into banking all the time. Now if were are having a discussion on benefit then no advanced degree benefits anyone for banking.
Why do you answer questions when you are not 100% sure of the answer? Five minutes of searching on this forum or on TNA's website prove you dead-wrong.
B/c the people I know in MSF programs would tell you otherwise. They were quant heavy with more statistical modeling than financial modeling.
@TNA I have been taking practice tests and averaging 720/730. Almost always perfect on Quant. I will use this summer to really focus and practice more on verbal so I think that I can get 750 plus.
The reason why I would go ahead and do masters is because my school doesn't have any wall street connections. Hopefully that can get me offer from BB as an analyst and then after two years I hope to get my MBA from top 5.
