Traders forum is dying

I really enjoy the WSO forums but I feel that there is not much discussion, original content, or very many interesting threads. Everything is the same, an individual with his/her own situation looking for answers how to get a SA and FT offer. Im not sure if this was the originally what this forum was intended for but thats all everything thread is about. This is a challenge to everyone that uses this forum to really get something out of using this forum. We all share the common interest of an interest in the markets so lets make use of this forum. Sorry but I just wanted to put this out there because I am tired of reading 50 of the same thread about a different person.

Maybe rather than organizing everything into I-Banking, PE etc., you could divert all the "help me with career advice" stuff to one specific Career Help forum for all of them. Then the industry forums could be used to discuss topics that don't include applying for jobs. People could then divide their time between helping people out and reading other content.

WSO already has a "get a job" forum, but people seem to ignore this and post wherever they please.

Good point. The fact that I barely realized that forum existed probably says something. It might be worth thinking about whether the site needs so many different industry forums. Perhaps breaking the forums into functions (Career Help, Industry Discussion, Monkeying Around), would be more helpful. People can specify in the title whether it's PE,IB,HF. Let's face it, they aren't all that different, and people interested in reading about one are probably interested in all of them. If I have a comment about Blackstone or Fortress, where should I post?

Hey guys, I hear you. The intention of the Get a Job forum is to capture these Career advice threads but I have done a horrible job keeping up with the content as I am focused on web development and other marketing initiatives to grow the userbase with more professionals and certified users (and search for some dedicated writers).

"Get a Job" is intended to capture advice as it pertains to Summer Analyst positions and FT positions. I have to admit I have not been good at organizing the threads but I will definitely make a more concerted effort to move threads more actively. In fact, I will spend a few hours right now going through Forum Topics now and moving them to the proper area.

A lot of people will post to the I-Banking Bullpen because it is the most active. I would love to have some more moderators that could help me keep threads in the right areas. volunteers?

Thanks guys, Patrick

WSO could you somehow get this message across to the users. To use the specific forums for their intended purpose and the get a job for SA and FT. I think you need some help moderating the forum. I dont know how you expect to manage this enitrely by yourself... Think about it.

Great ideas coming through on this thread. Getting a couple moderators would definitely help out a lot - NYChimp's time is valuable and I wouldn't want him to waste it on menial tasks like that. Could even be a resume booster lol "Moderated forum targeting Wall Street Professionals, increasing page views by 27% YOY".
