In basically the same position, made a lot of money trading the past year and starting in IB soon. Definitely would not give up working to trade my own money full time, but will use the privilege of having a sizable sum of money in making future career decisions. Gonna probably leave IB after a year and do a more chill corporate finance job since I already have more money than I was hoping to save after 2-3 years in IB

Lmao I'm also in a very similar position going into FT. Anything is possible out there. So glad I didn't listen to some of the losers on here who said it couldn't be done and that it's a waste. I remember the post from a while back but can't find it. Would be nice to get a fresh perspective here from someone. Personally, I'm going to go with banking for now but I'm not going to stress over deliverables or anything.

Do you guys have any material I should use if I want to become a better trader? Books, youtube videos, podcasts, etc. would be extremely helpful. I have an intermediate background, but I want to expand my knowledge.

think of it this way, if you published your entire trading strategy on this website, would people say, "that is an interesting and in-depth strategy?" Or would they laugh at you. If it is the latter, then I'd think long and hard before going into trading full-time. The fact that you only work a few hours a day makes me think that your strategy is perhaps not fully fleshed out. Maybe you can give us some more details on what types of trades you are doing. Obviously, I'm not asking for you to give us your treasured secrets, but what is your general strategy?

Well if you have been getting high return with low volatility, then just keep doing it. I'd be very sure this little area of the market is going to stay before I turned down a job. You're going to have to think long and hard if you really understand why things are the way they are and how you will know (ahead of time) that things are about to turn to shit.

Also, when you're done, send in your brokerage info to WSJ so they can write a big article about how you turned "a few thousand dollars" into however many millions you needed to retire.
