Traditional Trading vs Quant Trading

currently a undergrad studying for a major in finance my question is for all the traders out there. Is quant trading better then the traditional trading as in which do firms hire more wa doing some research for school and came across articles saying quants will replace traditional in the future so just want some insight from the vets themself. .......ps i also have a minor in fintech right now what other things can i add to boost my resume my school offers a 16 month masters in data analytics which i think could be useful, last thing can you also explain your internship if you are traditional or quant would love to hear btw thanks

One of the main aspects of finance is typically data analysis. In the future all forms of data analysis will be "quant leaning" does not matter what career/industry you are in it will be "quant leaning" just due to how big data works. Will quants totally replace all traditional aspects of trading? This is hard to say since it so product/structure driven though.

Now here is the major caveat, over time like all technologies we get better at automate and speeding up processes. Just like SaaS sales in areas of consumer good, we have massive push to create tools today that let traders make decisions much faster, basically tools they will never need to create themselves. For this reason I would say doing "masters in data science" is overkill because you want to a be trader or data scientist? Lot of aspects of data science like technical analysis back in the day you can learn on your own and grow skillset with the firm. But if you can't get on desk out of undergrad maybe its something one should consider. But I think grad programs should stick to indepth academic research driven fields; econ/math/philosophy versus "a degree to get a job" and most traders would lean same way.
