Transaction role vs Asset Management role in Infra PE

I joined an Infra PE shop straight out of university 12 months ago. My responsibilities are focussed on the ‘Asset Management’ of our portfolio companies and as such, I’m not getting much deal exposure. I’ve been staffed on one big deal so far but other than that, my only transaction work is through add-on acquisitions. I enjoy the work but I’m worried that the role is going to prevent me from accessing transaction roles in the future, forcing me to work exclusively in AM roles. Does anyone have a similar experience and how did you deal with it? What are the upsides and downsides of working in an Asset Management focussed role at mid-senior level? Less deal work = less 3am finishes? Perhaps less 'glamorous' and lower comp?
