I work in risk and I enjoy it. I definitely would not transfer into transaction services.

At my firm, they not only have a much smaller bonus but their base pay is even lower. Their job also doesn't sound that interesting or transferable to places I'd like to go.

But if I had ended up in transaction services, it wouldn't be the end of the world or anything.

Would anyone have a preference for which group in the same firm, and why?

Don't work in either, but just met with a contact at KPMG to learn about both of these. Personally, I would opt for Transactions and Restructuring just because I find that more interesting. Also, if you got an MBA and network well you could probably get into a boutique IB. So really it depends on what you would like to do long term. Good luck.
