Transfer to Penn State/Rutgers for IB?
I'm a rising junior on a gap year that goes to a flagship public university in the Midwest. I finished sophomore year with a 3.4 gpa, and right now I'm on a gap year doing internships at KPMG (off-cycle, fall 2020) and EY (winter, jan 2021-mar 2021) in advisory positions. I know my gpa is super low, but in my defense, I didn't really think of investment banking at all and wanted to get a CPA to go to a Big4 accounting firm and work in financial advisory.
While I was exploring my interest in advisory positions, I was fortunately exposed to M&A deals and transactions and this made me interested in investment banking. This is the path I want to pursue and I'm pretty sure I can raise my gpa up to the 3.7 minimum during my two remaining years of college, but I haven't networked at all during my first two years of college, and my school isn't exactly recognizable for investment banking. We do have a school-run hedge fund, but the outcomes at best are middle market like PWP or Lazard. Consulting is pretty strong, I've seen a few people get into McKinsey, Bain, Boston, Accenture, etc., but that isn't really my area of interest.
Long story short, I'm thinking of transferring into a bigger public school with a better presence in investment banking. The two I have in mind are Penn State and Rutgers, but I'm not sure which is better and if transferring is worth it at all since my current school and the two I'm thinking of transferring to are all non-target schools. I'd really appreciate any input.
