two possible internships
hi, i go to a CC and am transferring out this year.
i gratefully might have two opportunities this summer and i'm just wondering which would open more doors / which one you would pick.
one is brokering at an institutional desk and the other would be at a distressed real estate firm dealing with collateral risk and market risk factors
thanks,
kurt
oh and maybe one in finance & ops at intuit
i'd go with distressed RE
but it still depends on the specifics of the role
not exactly sure either. the firm just buys loans and makes deals with the borrowers. no credit risk/fixed income involved either. would the brokerage help at all transitioning to trading (possibly at an inst. desk as well)? i dont want to become a broker
It depends what you are looking to do FT though. Brokerage might position you better for S/T, but make sure it is a real internship, and that is in a reputable role. Distressed RE would position you more for IBD, but again, make sure you know what your role and responsibilities will be.
thanks for the response drex. not sure what i want to do FT yet. For the brokerage, I would be cold calling, confirming trades, managing accounts and other stuff (and is also a 1.5hr commute :P) Not sure about the details of the other one yet but what i know is in the posts above ^
