Two Weeks To Prepare For ER (Associate) Interview
Hi All,
In two weeks I will be interviewing in NYC for an ER BB position. I'm overly-stressed out and naturally a very task oriented person, so I'm trying to spend all of tonight planning out a "study" plan for these next two weeks. Other than the obvious interview questions and interpersonal skill demonstrations, what should I focus on?
Right now I have:
A list of technical questions (see below)
A spreadsheet and containing the 10 SP500 sectors and their respective industry breakdown + largest companies by revenue
Note cards on all sectors and industries in the US (mainly off of S&P 500).
A comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the current market forces and political issues both domestic and foreign countries are facing.
Key areas I need to work on
Modeling. I'm worried that my models aren't up to par aesthetically and may get picked apart if I'm put to the test
Stock pitches. I'm over thinking everything and can't come up with a complete, yet concise, template that allows me to pitch a L/S in less than four minutes.
Technical Questions
What do you think about X company?
What is beta?
Major valuation methodologies
EBIT vs EDBITDA
I know you're going to read this and roll your eyes, but I would greatly appreciate any help! The part I need the most guidance on is my stock pitches. I'm thinking of going into the interview with 4 total pitches - 2 small-cap and 2 large-cap, long and short in each. Also, any videos or book (if time allows) recommendations would be great! I have about 30-40 hours of efficient study time to use before my interview.
Thank you so much! Beers for everyone if I land this.
Hey SeekingTheta, I'm here to break the silence...any of these links help you?:
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
I don't think you need to know every market. Just focus on one sector and become decent at it. Having a little knowledge about 10 sectors is worse than knowing one sector really well.
Google stock pick - there're a few good guides on the web. On youtube, there're a few stock pitches, and Bill Ackmann also has a stock pitch at columbia that takes place every year. Watch those vids to get an understanding of how a pitch should go, and try to model your pitch after those.
Gl!
