Two Years Boutique IB Experience - What MBA Program Will Accept Me?
2nd Year boutique analyst here. I want to get an MBA and I want to do it after my Associate promote.
Will I be competitive at a T25 MBA program with a 3.2 UGPA from a non-target with 2 years IB experience and 320-325 GRE? What programs would likely accept me?
I will have letters of rec from my MD and a Principal.
My hottake with no experience in the MBA world. T25 possible - going to be hard. M7 out of the question.
I reached out to UNC and they were receptive. Tepper was less so. Really hoping someone has made this leap.
I would have thought lots of boutique guys wanted to go 2 years IB > MBA > BB/EB Associate
I think its hit or miss on schools. Also I feel like individuals that want to lateral find a way without an MBA.
With just 2 years of work experience you are very much on the low end. This past year UNC admitted a huge group of North Carolina residents (or graduates of NC universities) and they are now first years in the program with 0 years post-undergrad experience. UNC may be your best bet for an admit - your years WE and GPA are below average at all T25 schools. If you are able to get a 325+ GRE, you might get a shot at Tepper or Cornell. However, schools expect you to bring valuable insights from your work experience and typically there isn't as much that someone with 2 years can bring when the averages are ~4-5 years.
Beyond work, do you have leadership experience to offer? Why do you need an MBA now? Make sure you can answer these questions!
