Phenomenal school. Leaves a bit to be desired on the relationship side of an MBA program.
Ever heard of the Invisible 200 at Booth?
I intentionally aimed my sights at Kellogg in lieu of Booth because of this.
I'm referring to undergrad, not MBA. Hearing a lot of negative stories about undergrad...
Such as?
i think you'd find some misery in each school...... kinda hard to compare with ???
Potentially. But over 20% of the class? C'mon, man.
Look a friend was from there pre-common application and it was not surprisingly the case.
Now it's all common application'ed and they're just as prestige chasing as it's peers so who knows?
And unless you know 20% from admission people or whoever credible, you can tone down a bit before I take it as a bit irritating
"UChicago undergrad sorta helps with getting good positions but not nearly as much as you hope." True? (Originally Posted: 06/04/2018)

UChicago does not publish detailed placement or salary data that goes into the depth peer schools do. Does UChicago feel that their placement isn't strong enough to warrant a lengthy report?
It’s still a target school. Having a solid GPA from UChicago will impress others and is bound to get you looks during OCR, especially for Chicago IB.
Accurate. UC is not an Ivy, MIT, Stanford or Duke, so it doesn't pop off the page - but it's still top 10ish. Very few kids there had top 10 acceptances on the table, so you play the hand you were dealt.
I'm not really sure what that means. There are odd people who'd go there just to nerd along with their death of fun. Doesn't mean it's worse, but I don't recall them having D1 athletics right?
"UC is not an Ivy" is an argument? I'd honestly be more impressed by seeing UC on a resume than Brown, Cornell, non-Wharton Penn, Dartmouth, as well as Duke. The average kid there may be super lame (this holds true) but they're quite sharp.
Is UChicago undergrad still miserable? My pals got into Duke, Brown, Michigan and Georgetown (Originally Posted: 06/29/2018)
And it seems like there's an endless supply of wealthy smokeshows at their schools, their campuses are more fun, their courses are easier and their GPAs will be higher. If the endgame for us is Wall Street, why go to a college like UChicago? I know I'm lucky to get into a college like U of C with the 6 or 7% acceptance rate but I'm having real doubts. Then if I hate it, it's impossible to transfer out to a peer elite with a brutal UChicago GPA.
i got in and rejected uchicago for a much lower tier school and am super happy. I still managed to receive a few offers, maybe not at the tier I could have at uchicago, but I'm happy. My friend tries to hype the school up, it's not completely socially dead, but it is quiet. It's gonna be hard af but a great school.
One More Reason to Attend UChicago (Originally Posted: 03/24/2012)
While Fabrice Tourre (aka Fabulous Fab, aka government scapegoat, aka “building is going to collapse” guy) is awaiting trial for alleged fraud, he has given all of us one more reason to attend the University of Chicago.
Well, I have always dreamed about going to UC, but major props to the admissions board for seeing past all the nonsense that painted him in the middle of Blankfien’s “I don’t remember(s)’ and Barney Frank’s “No one saw this coming but Fab.”
Now, hopefully prosecutors take into account his recent volunteer work and allow this man to get on with his doctorate. The only question remains, will he require his students / colleagues to address him as Dr. Fabulous Fab?
Also, where does the government find such big binders? Why don't they just use iPads?
Isn't it like, really windy there? I wouldn't wanna be strollin down the street and the wind go an' mess up my swagged-out 'do. No sir, no Chicago for me.
Haha, the binder was the first thing I noticed.
More power to him.
U of Chicago
Enough said
Personally, I think the guy has made a mistake but he's clearly trying to better himself! Good job, Chicago!!
those binders are brought to you by the same guys that brought you this commercial.
As far as I know phds usually don't remain in their doctorate schools after graduation

I’m going to get straight to the point. How do I get in? Any major is fine. I’m entering my sophomore year, have a 3.92 GPA and 1580 SAT. I’m in the school newspaper (beats editor and public relations manager), Model UN (outstanding delegate at SCMUN and Berkeley MUN), math and science club (112 on AMC 10B). Please avoid general suggestions like “stop worrying about numbers and just follow your passion,” try to keep suggestions to specific steps. Thanks.
by the way, how did all these prep school kids get in? Not just Uchicago, but all the other Ivies. I was browsing LinkedIn and all the incoming Lazard/GS analysts attended elite prep schools... do Ivies just prefer prep school students? I may consider transferring to one in my junior/senior year
