UCLA undergrad for Investment Banking/Finance Sector?
I recently was admitted to UCLA for Pre-Economics as a prospective freshman and I was wondering whether it was a good undergraduate school for going into Investment Banking, Financial Consulting, or going to a hedge fund. I live in Los Angeles and love it with my ultimate goal being to work here. I feel like if I went to UCLA I will be able to create connections here for when I graduate. I also want to join the Investment Banking Club on campus and transfer into Business Economics. I am still waiting on hearing from USC Marshall and UC Berkeley. Plus UCLA is soooo cheap. So what are your thoughts regarding undergrad UCLA for a prospective job in finance. Thank you. BTW: I got into Michigan LSA Economics and Boston College Carroll.
UCLA is targeted by all the banks' west coast offices. If you do intend to stay in LA after college, then UCLA would be a good choice. Congrats!
If you want to stay in LA, UCLA is fine, but it would serve you well to try to transfer into Ross at UMich. They place well generally.
UCLA is definitely a target for the west coast, and all of my friends who went there had minimal issues getting into banking / consulting. The fact that you know what you want to do already will put you miles ahead.

Semi-Target. You need to network your way through there.
.
Thank you guys.

I think its interesting to note that UCLA has been growing their presence a lot in the past few years. Have heard of kids in there getting EVR and PJT NY in recent years, so I'd imagine it's growing. That having said, Ross is still definitely a better target than UCLA for New York. Hope it worked out!
Would UVA be a far better school than UCLA for east coast finance?
Yes.
Great school. Location is awesome too. Buddy of mine goes there and landed at PWP this summer. Solid placement into banking on the west coast.
How is the placement on the east coast tho
Just a question out of genuine curiosity, what do you study under the major of Pre-Economics?
