I searched high and low all over these forums but can't seem to find which specific masters degree everyone is talking about when mentioning UCL. Can anyone quickly help me out. It can't be their Economics Masters programme, can it? How does that make it into the top 5 master of finance degrees in UK then?

What does UCL stand for ?
University College, London.
as far as i know, UCL doesn't have an MSc Finance... they have an MSc management
Is that the programme that is on par with Imperial/better than Warwicks finance degrees? That seems...strange.
I honestly don't know much about UCL's MSc management...I know that Imperial and Warwick MSc Fin are both good but not great (Imperial is much more financial maths based, so more recruiting for quant jobs than IB jobs)
The best programs in the UK are hands down Oxford, Cambridge and LSE.
After these three programs, I would consider continental european programs like HEC, Bocconi, SSE and St. Gallen before UCL MSc management or Warwick.
Really? Even though Warwick/Imperial/UCL are located in England? I would think that London-based employers would prefer grads from UK. If that's not the case, then it seems that after the big 3 (LSE,Oxford and Cambridge) any of the top 20 would place one in a decent position to obtain an entry-level IB role. Maybe I'm wrong.

Outside of 5 core UK universities, London IBs will take as many students from continental europe as from UK unis.
If we are talking about the undergrad level, the list looks like this:
1)Oxford 2)Cambridge 3)LSE 4)UCL 5)Warwick 6)Imperial 7)HEC 8)Bocconi 9)SSE 10) St. Gallen
with some St. Andrews, Durham, Bristol, Kings College, and Cass students in the mix as well
If we are talking about the MSC level, the list looks like this:
1)LSE 2)Oxford 3)Cambridge 4)HEC 5)Bocconi 6)SSE 7)St. Gallen 8)Warwick 9)RSM 10)Imperial
with Cass, Durham and maybe ESADE in Spain in the mix as well
The City is full of HEC and Bocconi graduates. Banks go to these universities and make presentations for students to apply to their programmes, and they certainly place better than Warwick/Imperial/UCL at the masters level (although not at the undergrad level).
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to fly a guy from Paris or Milan instead of getting one from London... but I was once told by a recruiter that it was in order to get diversity. I guess they get enough UK talent from Oxbridge, LSE and think that continental European grads can offer different skills.

aslo check IBtalk.com... it is like WSO but for London... they talk a lot about universities, degrees, placement, etc
