UK Recruiting Answers - Post Them Please

I wanted to ask WSO-ers how exactly is UK recruiting done? In the US, we reach out to alumni, there's OCR interviews, resume drops, school trips, online resume drop (blackhole) -- but apparently in Europe it's different.

My questions are,

  1. Do UK employers really take a look at every resume posted? (Response for every app you do). This seems so with my current apps, and I've gotten either interviews or rejections for days.

-I heard once that UK recruiting is almost done entirely online, w/ emphasis on A levels (your high school grades), tons of essays, and online assessments.

  1. Will I always be faced with a Kenexa, SHL exam screen, even years after graduation?

  2. What's the competition like? Can we get some figures?

  • Any other insight you guys want to add.

The reason why I'm asking is I'm thinking about a Masters in the UK vs. the US. MSF in particular. But I'm not very good at SHL tests, and I've finished 2 weeks of taking them (failed a Lazard M&A one after passing the resume screen. It was 2x harder than the Deustche Bank one).

Thanks, and I appreciate the advice, especially from students of LSE/Oxbridge/etc and non-targets.

if SHL test are your problem, just practice them? Should take you 2-3 weeks and you are a master at them. There are even books for this.

Your question is way too general, what industry are you even interested in?
