UK Student interested in IB and needs advice
Hi,
A little about me
I am a first-year student in the UK at a non-target university (e.g. not LSE, Oxbridge etc.) studying a degree in Finance and Investment management. I have an interest in FInance and a career goal of working in an investment bank after I graduate. I am a member of the Finance and Trading society at my university and I am currently on track for a 1st (4.0 GPA) in the first year but did not manage to secure any spring weeks at any BB's or IB's (although many have been canceled). I have alumni from my university at BB's who I am planning to network with but not many are in senior roles. Obviously, as a first-year (freshman) I know jack shit about the industry and would like the knowledge and expertise you readers have to try and gain an insight into the world and how I can better my chances of gaining an internship later down the line!
My questions
-
How best can I go networking my way into IB?
-
Is missing spring weeks a big deal or am I still able to push my way to the top for summer internships?
-
The best advice you have for entering the IB world, whether this is who to apply to, what career path to take, certain skills to learn, etc.
Any advice would be appreciated, and hope you're all keeping safe during this unprecedented time!
