UK Woman Yelling Out Expletives and Racists Comments on Tram

So with all of the recent posts from WorldStar Hip Hop on WSO and the recent thread about what constitutes as racism, I figured I'd post this to see everyone's thoughts:

News article about it:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/nov/28/tram-…

So this video represents a blatant example of racism and there is no question that this is morally wrong. Yet you can't help but wonder how there is already a suspect in custody for this, and there's no development for the physical violence that was seen in previous posts (not that I know of anyways). BTW, This lady almost got her ass kicked by the guy behind her if it wasn't for one of the passengers calming him down.

Thoughts????

That woman is a lost cause.... I'm more concerned with the child she's holding. No one is ever born hating another race, it is something that is taught.

actually all babies are racist from what I remember

For reference, there was a gross immigration of approximately 500,000 people into the UK in the last 12 months. an outgoing of 250,000 leaving a net 250,000 gain.

While her views are wrong, right and wrong doesnt matter when it comes to survival of your way of life. Just look at 1930's Germany for that.

It's very easy to condemn this, and rightly so, but noone will go after the events that created someone to think this way. You quote, no person is taught to hate from birth and feel sorry for her child, but in the same sentence you contradict yourself. Who taught her?

Personally I would have challenged her on what specifically makes her British, and how many generations of born in Britain it takes to be British, since technically, everyone everywhere is/was at one point, an immigrant.

Sadly, these views will not be debated, and people wont be able to get their feelings on immigration out in the open. It will be forced underground, and that is the worst possible place for them. Oddly enough, I indirectly encourage people with thoughts such as these to speak out, so at least it's possible to fight it. Keeping this stuff underground is where the real problem lies. A woman spewing venom on a bus is not going to do much more than kick off some buzz in an otherwise boring day. A group of people collaborating in secret are capable of much more sinister acts requiring their voice to get heard. **

** The Norwegian Gunman, IRA Terrorists, UK Riots and the infamous racist organisations all started in this way.

Learn from history, it's the only thing its good for.

@trazer985 Not really sure what you mean by contradiction. Hatred is not genetic, it is learned or experienced. There is no reason to challenge or question her thoughts because there is no way for her to produce an acceptable answer.

I do agree that keeping these issues under wrap makes it worse. Europe never experienced a Civil Rights movement so many racial issues are rarely discussed.

Are you serious? Europe never experienced a civil rights movement? Just wow..... I thought we had the educated bunch on here. Just to name a few, Abolition of Slavery Act of 1833, the suffragettes and all the bullshit that came with the EU.

Do not start me on the civil rights movements in the US. There's an argument that will derail the thread (it was basically because of money).

On another line, you underestimate how incredibly racist continental Europe is. It's generally pretty shocking, however they also have very low immigration rates. (Check out Switzerland as an extreme example of this).

Real tough words when you have a child on your lap... I have a feeling there would've been a wompin goin on if she was by herself.

If your dreams don't scare you, then they are not big enough. "There are two types of people in this world: People who say they pee in the shower, and dirty fucking liars."-Louis C.K.

Maybe I missed that part of history..... But Europe to my knowledge has never had a Civil Rights movement. The Abolition of Slavery Act of 1833 that you are referring to was put into place for monetary reasons, too many slaves were being shipped to the United States from Africa and it drove the value down of the slaves that were already being traded amongst the colonial settlers from England.

I dont underestimate how bad Europe's racial issues are because thats where the issues were developed.

Im a huge sports fan, and you can tell by the way soccer players are treated in the European contries. That kind stuff doesnt really happen in the US.

*Sidenote- Sometimes when an issue involves race that it automatically becomes "racist". This is where problems start, a racial component doesn't make it "racist".

as was the civil rights movement in the US. Check out the youth unemployment rate differential between white and black at the time, as well as other economic indicators.

Stuff doesnt happen in this world because its a nice thing to do.

And yea you're right, you have no problem with racism at all like we do in Europe in sports. I mean I regularly see Texan Rodeos filled with all types of ethnicities being completely accepted by all. Oh wait. nvm.

Don't want to try too hard to interpret what you were saying FranchiseTag but this passage implies that you think Europe's "racial issues" are worse than the US's. As I said, there are no facts upon which one could base such a conclusion, so let's maybe leave it at that.

FranchiseTag you should really back up your facts about Europe being more racist than the US. If you want to stick to the football example I challenge you with how the players of the national football teams of France and Germany are by majority immigrants, but still cheered to by an overwhelming majority of the respective countries at every match.

If you want to convince me you''ve got to bring up some real facts and not just anecdotal "evidence". I doubt there are any.

@another monkey I never stated that Europe was racist nor did I say that Europe was more racist than the United States. As a matter of fact I never once implied that Europe was "racist" at all.

There is nothing I can say to convince you or anyone that one country's racial issues are more severe than another country's because it is a completely subjective matter.

@another monkey I wasn't trying to imply that the social ills the revolve around race in Europe are worse, I was trying to show that those issues are displayed on some of the largest platforms (Soocer the most popular sport ) in Europe. Not to say that it has never happened in America, but I cannot remember a time during any major professional sporting event in the US where racial taughting was allowed ot tolerated...... But I do understand your viewpoint on my previous comment.

@Orangutan all babies are born racist? interesting...

I've lived in the EU and having spent a considerable time in the UK, this shit doesn't surprise me at all. Having worked with lots of Europeans, I can compare the attitudes there to those in the US. It's not that the US is a perfectly tolerant place, but the countries in Europe are relatively less tolerant to outsiders, whether they are of different race or nationality.

Where the fuck has PC Liberalism brought us that people can not even voice their opinions. Let me tell you a brown person that this woman has every right to say what she said. England is not a country of Black or Brown people, and it is not Pakistan or Nigeria. It has been inhabited by the English people for over a thousand years. And just because some liberal elites decides to open the floodgates of immigration, don't fucking tell her that she can't say what she wants to.

Low class immigration has been a disaster for western countries. The UK should only be letting in highly skilled foreigners in limited numbers.

Don't give me the manual labor jobs will not be done by the British people argument. There are a lot of lazy unemployed Brits collecting welfare who could use a job right now.

There's freedom of speech and there's downright idiotic remarks. Your's and that lady's are the latter. Firstly, granted the woman was using her freedom of speech but there exists a law in the country, which is inciting racial hatred. I think she contravenes that, how about you? England prides itself on a multi-cultural society and is welcoming, which is one of its greatest traits. Yes, people abuse the open arms policy, but tell me which country doesnt have this problem? Those people she is condemning contribute to this society, unlike her. I dont but for a second, with her people skills and frankly vulgar speech, does she have a fucking job. Look at the state of her child.

And that argument of Brits not doing manual work is wholly justified. I fucking live there. I should know. Unemployment dropped this month but only because of about 200,000 just giving up and not bothering to find work. The same people you mention who are willing to work. I would suggest you check your facts before you coming dropping some bullshit, when its plainly obvious you have no idea what you're talking about.

^^^One more thing, we (immigrants from Asia/Africa/South America) did not come to see thousands of us in Western Countries. That is what we wanted to leave behind.

In the end it all comes down to race. Imagine a UK run by Pakistanis. What do you think it will look like? Not the UK we know of right now let me tell you. It will be under Sharia law.

Political correctness has reached its limits. Now you may or may not agree with me, but Europe has reached a tipping point in terms of immigration. I don't think Europe can take in anymore migrants from anywhere, except the highly skilled one.

And if Europe wants to restrict or close down immigration from Asia or Africa, you can't go around and call them racist or whatever. Europe has been occupied by Europeans for thousands of years, and Europe belongs to Europeans. If they don't want other people to come in, fair enough.

So let me get this straight. One immigrant wants to leave to have a better life for himself and family, but he can't stand seeing another doing the same thing?

And sharia law? Really?

Last time I checked Poland was in Europe and the woman was criticising Poles for coming into our country. While you're backing her but saying Europe belongs to Europeans? Make your fucking mind up. You seem slow to me.

Europe hasn't gained anything from immigration? Have you seen the demographic dynamics some of these countries are facing? If it weren't for massive immigration, the welfare states most European countries run would have crumbled a long time ago.

As for soccer, I think the things you see have to do with how much more intense rivalries and tensions are in European soccer. There's a paper floating out there on the interwebs that discusses violence in South American and European soccer. It's no overly surprising that racism is a part of all the tensions and "passion" that goes into soccer games. The atmosphere at US sports events simply isn't conducive to the attitude you see in European soccer. If fan violence and brutal chants were as widespread in US sports, you can be sure you would eventually see racist things seep in.

Hahaha Europe is getting fucked up the ass in a 1000 ways right now... awesome.

My impression was that racism is a hush-hush topic in Europe and it was a huge faux pas to bring up the issue. In the U.S., we've never given two shits about political correctness (in that form), so you see people like Anne Coulter, Jesse Jackson, et al constantly barking out these random, racially-charged soundbites.

The UK has always taken a "Tally ho! I say, look at those silly American children!" attitude without addressing their own immigration problems re: "Pakis", "Jiggas". Over the past two decades the U.S. has been dealing surprisingly well with the integration of illegal Mexican and south/central Am immigrants because well, the U.S. has always been a country of immigrants. European countries have always been relatively homogenous, and so now you get the fucked up shit when the Euros realize that they're slowly being outschooled and outbred (the bigger problem will actually be with the amount of Muslims in Scandinavia).

Long and short of it: I fucking love America. And Europe is fucked.

Let me ask the Liberals here one simple question.

Japan is the most xenophobic, racist society in the world. Out of a population of 125m, only about 1 m are non-Japanese and they are trying to kick Brazilian-Japanese out by paying them money to leave. Now, this is horrible for the Japanese economy as their birthrates are low and we will see a population decline. But let us forget the economic side for a while.

Now answer this:

DOES JAPAN AS A SOCIETY, RACE, NATION HAVE A FUCKING FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO SAY THAT THEY DO NOT WANT NON-JAPANESE TO LIVE IN JAPAN? OR IS THAT FREEDOM TOO DIFFICULT FOR YOU PC LIBERALS TO UNDERSTAND?

JamesHetfield, what the fuck does a "fundamental right" mean? Every right is just an agreement between individuals that can always be changed when they agree anew to something different and there is nothing fundamental to it.

Europe has been occupied by Europeans for thousands of years, and Europe belongs to Europeans. If they don't want other people to come in, fair enough.

Concepts like 'belong' and 'own' when it comes to territory mean that years ago, someone came to that territory and forced someone else out of it. Just because someone in Europe did that long ago doesn't mean that someone else cannot come now and do the same thing to the incumbents. Land in Europe has changed hands numerous times in the past. Whoever has the power to take someone else's territory or wealth will do so. I don't think people in the UK protested much when their empire was invading other people's land, infringing on their 'rights', but that is part of the reason why scumbags like that woman can now buy an iphone and ride the subway. Rights are an illusion and an excuse for the use of power. Whoever is more competitive wins and fucktards like the woman in the video are scared because they feel increasingly powerless as they are becoming less competitive. But that's life.

ivoteforthatguy:
japan is truly sui generis

Japan is probably the most fucked out of any developed country. If I married a Japanese American chick, moved to Japan, and had 4+ kids, I would have my own reality TV show...

They don't have sex over there anymore--it's literally an archaic practice. I read an article a while back about how Japanese men have virtual girlfriends, who they buy "virtual" presents for, take on dates, weekend getaways, etc. It's disturbing on a very basic level, almost as if society has been "sterilized" in more than one sense of the word. The culture, both corporate and in general, is also so claustrophobic and formulaic that people go crazy. Hell, I can work 100 hrs/wk here, but in Japan I'd want to jump off a tall building (and many do).

All of this works out great for me because I plan to have a little hut on Hokkaido post-finance... it's an absolutely gorgeous place to live.
