Undergrad in finance from Bocconi and worked in luxury for 2 years. Want to switch to corporate finance or consulting. What master's should I do? Should I take the CFA?
Got a 7200 on the GMAT and was aiming for a few MiMs. I messed up my undergrad grades tbh and imperial and Warwick told me they won't consider me because of my grades. Had offers from Durham and QMUL for corporate finance and Msc management consultancy from UCD. Haven't applied to other schools but last year had admits from ie, Esade, Ivey, escp, etc. I don't want to aim for continental euro schools because I suffered a lot after bocconi due to companies not being able to sponsor my work visa. I was in the final round for a few places like Allianz, Zurich etc but they ghosted me and the startups that I interviewed at told me that they would love to hire me but they couldn't sponsor my visa. I was working in Milan and I came back to my country during Covid and couldn't go back due to an expired visa.
Anyway, I don't want the same thing to happen to me again. I don't really know what to do. It feels like I have failed at 25 because all my friends are doing way better than me. I am not really interested in investment banking tbh but was wondering if I should take the CFA. I want to target brand management, strategy, corporate finance or management consultancy tbh. I am learning R, Python etc and have undertaken a few certificates revolving around data science. I do enjoy modeling and have had to present a few financial models to the BD departments of LVMH etc. Anyway what do you guys think? I was leaning towards UCD due to the lax post study work visa rules in Ireland. Will a big 4 be in reach after the program?
Should I leave all this, undertake a master's in accounting and sit for something like the CMA or ACCA or do something employable like Msc in data analytics or business analytics?
Hi Prospect in CB, any of these threads helpful:

If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
Well I believe you should start by prioritizing.
I know it can be hard to choose what you want to do but brand management is very different to data analytics or corporate finance.
So firstly, I would try to rank the options from most to least desirable. Then take the top 2 and call the first Plan A and the other one Plan B. Now, if the two have an overlap in some skills, it would be easier to go go from plan A to plan B and vice versa. E.g. Corp Fin and Data Analytics can have some overlapping skills, such as basic math, statistics, some programming, advanced excel etc...
Secondly, I would rank the industries I would want to work in. Then you can start thinking of combining the two and make a final choice.
Regarding the MSc question, I would say ESCP is probably the best overall choice. But between Durham and QMUL, I would go for QMUL to make connections in London, but if not interested so much in that, then I would go for the content I like the most.
Regarding the professional qualification, I would probably go for it, but usually it means more if you combine it with 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
And don’t say that you’ve failed at 25. If you have a robust plan and try your best, you’ll get something great for yourself.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for your reply. I don't have an offer from escp. Secondly what professional qualifications would you recommend? I am pursuing a master's in management online from uiuc
