University of Applied Science

Hello Readers,

I hope everyone is having a productive Monday! I was wondering if anyone here has experience with Universities of applied science. I study in the Netherlands and they are very common here. For the people who don't know. They are universities focused on a more practical approach. It has fewer theoretical learning points, but has a 6-month internship incorporated. In the Netherlands, the high school program toward these universities is a year shorter, but the bachelor is 4 years instead of the standard 3 years. I hope you get the picture.

In the near future, I will be graduating and would like to transition into a Master of Finance. Preferably internationally. Does anyone know if coming from a university of applied science is acceptable for international Master of Finance degrees? Would I face problems when applying in Germany, italy, sweden or in the UK?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I am currently in my 3rd year of Bachelor of Applied Sciences (in the Dutch part of Belgium though but it's pretty similar). I am currently doing a PE internship in Brussels, will be interning this summer in a boutique Investment bank (also in Brussels). I am planning on doing a MFin next year as well, but in Belgium as well as in the Netherlands you need to do a pre-master year in order to get accepted to those uni programs, coming from a University of Applied Science (or University College as they like to call them here). I know that it's the same for Germany, but it doesn't apply to the UK (good luck getting an offer from target UK Msc Finance program with a Uni of Applied Sciences degree though ... :/ dunno about Sweden
