University of Chicago GSB - Hypothetical ?
This honestly is not my profile. Im still an undergrad student, but Im beginning to think this may be my eventual profile. Strictly an educated guess though.
-610 GMAT
-3.4 GPA (non-target public school)
-3 to 4 Years in Sales division of 3rd Largest Mutual Fund and Asset Management Company.
Im guessing the GMAT would have to come way up. I havent begun to prepare for the GMAT, but judging by my SAT performance and natural ability, I think I will score in the low 600's. And that includes a ton of prep. I always go well beyond your average studier when it comes to test prep.
Where are you at school now? Just based on the info you posted, it sounds like you would be a pretty longshot for a top business school at least until you had put in 4-5 years out of school.
Business schools care all about how you package your story:
true but with those stats, the story has to become more compelling... 610 and 3.4 is fighting a uphill battle. concentrate on what you have control over, so do well on the gmat, since the gpa is pretty much set by your 3rd year in college.
You could always try part-time...I think it's a bit easier to get into U of C that way, but you can take all the same classes, many of the same profs, and your degree will still be an MBA. Also, try to get the GMAT up and get some true "finance" related work experience...finally, there's always Northwestern...great school too, but less quant, more for marketing/mgmt....
try scoring above a 700 on the GMAT, you'll have a much better chance
Gotta break into the 90th percentile (680) to have a chance. Just remember that almost every school only looks at your highest score. If you get a good score on your 3rd or 4th test you can still spin it as a testament to your dedication/work ethic.
