Unpaid PE internship?
I have 3 interviews for unpaid internship.
1. PE firm in San Francisco 6 weeks unpaid with possibility of FT offer upon completion. It is a boutique PE firm established in 2009, which has 7 acquisitions under its current portfolio and 3 that were sold in IPO.
2. PE equity placement and advisory for investors in NYC. It is a 10 weeks internship, since it isn't a PE firm but placement for investors funds, the positive side is networking with PE companies partnering with this firm (Some interns landed a job with partnering firms). The firm has been in business since 1990.
3. Blackmore Partners in Chicago, I have seen negative reviews about the slavery practice there; I will turned down the interview because 6 months unpaid is crazy.
Which of option 1 and option seems the most appropriate for a possible FT PE analyst opportunity?
Thanks!
Option 1. They have a decent track record (2 deals per year with quick turnaround time). 6 weeks is a bit short so you really need to push hard but I think the best you can get from a placement agent is another internship.
Also re-read your posts, attention to details is a key skill in any finance-related work.
Don't do Blackmore Partners haha. It's just kind of shady they ask for all that. I would go for option one. They look like they have really hit the ground running and you will probably get some solid experience.
