Unrealistic getting into S&T with MSc Finance? (London)
I'm a final year Physics Masters student at a UK semi-target applying for MSc Finance programs (LSE,Imperial,HEC, etc.), didn't land any FO internships so my thought was to apply with a Finance Masters at a target uni to have a realistic chance at landing an internship in S&T. From what I've seen it's a very well trodden path into FO roles when it comes to IBD, and it's pretty common for Final year masters students to land IBD internships in London after being unsuccessful during undergrad.
Having spent a countless hours on LinkedIn I've not seen this to be the case for S&T though. There seem to be drastically fewer interns in S&T compared IBD, and even less so interns who were final year masters students. Not only that, I'm seeing a trend that analysts in S&T are a lot older compared to investment banking analysts, which leads me to believe there are fewer full time spots going around in S&T.
So essentially, my question is am I wasting my time trying to get into S&T through the masters route due to the scarcity and is it more realistic I'd land an Investment banking role?
