Update: Ghosting Intern

Quote is below.

Warren's Buffet:

Hey WSO, so I am pretty young and met with the founder/CEO of a fund a few weeks back. The meeting went extremely well. We bonded like old friends over a lot of things and he spent much more time with me than was warranted considering that it was our second meeting after a really brief interaction - even put a call on hold to introduce me to the investment team. Since then, HR has been pretty nonexistent and acting as if they did not know who I was. How do I follow up? Do I reach out to his assistant and say that I am super interested? Really need some advice here. Thanks!

Update: Still nothing and I literally ran into the fund manager at an NBA game and we chatted for a while court side...What am I doing wrong?

You were supposed to close.

Remember your ABCs...

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

It was an NBA game, it was loud and he was with family.

Well, this is off limits now:

![https://thumbs.gfycat.com/IllCluelessFluke-small.gif][https://thumbs.gf…] Because coffee is for closers...

You have to make the ask and be direct about what you want, when you want it and then make it happen. That's a direct dial, to him or in person to get it done. Secretaries and especially HR are not going to be remotely helpful in a case like this.

Realize that higher up guys live for the salesmanship, connecting with people and making strangers feel like close confidants - it's why they are where they are in large part. Nothing personal at all, but realistically it's not even on his mind to make it happen for you unless you press the issue. It might not work out in the long run, but, at the very least you will know where you stand.

Send him a follow-up email saying it was great to see him at the game and ask for an update on their hiring process.

CEOs are busy and I wouldn't expect HR to know who he meets casually - just send a quick email directly to him

Warren's Buffet:
He does not use email. I have been emailing his assistant but from the conversation it seems like she does not tell him this. He was surprised to find out that I haven't heard back yet.

Pick up the phone and call him directly. Say you're waiting to hear back, and you've tried to get a hold of HR. See if he needs anything else from you, and then low behold ask him for a specific timeline.
