Updated 2020 SA Recruiting Thread

Updated thread for the 2020 SA Recruiting Process:

  • Decided to start this since I cannot see comments in "SA and Full Time Recruiting 2020 thread" anymore (do not know if others are having this issue)
  • Thread for all those still going through the recruiting process for SA 2020 positions during this summer and into next fall

yeah, I can't see any new comments from the original 2020 thread. Before this thread gets too unwieldy, I suggest people START A NEW THREAD with title: 2020 Company Name, and SA vs FT.

It's through networking, you need to start now if you want it because they probably won't refer your resume when superdays end in a few weeks. It's an informal process.

Can people please use this thread and not the other thread with 440+ comments? Posting on there is fruitless because the comment section has gotten to be too big and the comments do not appear for other users.

Newer timelines: JPM and Barclays apps recently opened. BMO is "open" but you can't apply without an official referral through HR.

BMO's 2020 Chicago SA class has been filled for some time now per a VP, not sure about NYC

ebitda-d, what's your opinion? Comment below:

I heard (third party source, not sure if true) that BMO gave out their SA offers, but it was so early (March or April) that most people rejected the offer and that they'll have to re recruit.

Are there dedicated separate Barclays or BMO 2020 SA threads? If none, can someone please create? post the new thread link here and I'll add to the my 2020 SA megalist (see my earlier thread).

Spoke with an employee the other day. Interviews will run from Aug through Sep. However, this may be for non-core candidates. Would assume invites go out sometime in July

Is this for diversity? I know diversity hires went out but haven't heard about non-diversity. I'm curious about their Houston timeline

Can confirm diversity offers were given out back in April, but they will not be accelerating or rolling out their process until July 1st.

Question, are there any hurdles for a non US resident to apply to US programs?

Another question, which locations are least competitive out of the big cities?

Hi I'm a rising sophomore (so recruiting for 2021 SA, not 2020 like in this thread.) Seeing how many banks are recruiting during the summer now, do I need to pick sophomore summer internships that are in New York to realistically interview for junior summer positions in New York? Even if they cover expenses for flying me out there from a different city, it would be unrealistic to miss that much time at my sophomore internship, no?

I'm at a boutique IB in my hometown. hasn't stopped me from getting superdays. granted I did make a NY trip, though only one and for 2 days.

Was the 2-day NY trip for one superday only? What do you mean that you got superday(s) (plural)? You didn't make the NY trip for the others? Also, what was your excuse for leaving for the 2 days? Thanks.

Hi - undergrad from a target school and wanted to give back to this thread.

From my experience, essentially all the top EB have started and recruited about half of their SA2020 class. BB have not started outside of Barclays and CS.

Elite Boutiques: - PJT: RX has essentially finished (NY, SF - all RX groups are elite here so they recruit super early), Strategic Advisory (M&A) has just started with calls - Lazard: Started giving out supers and offers in March for non-diversity (shocking, but many friends attended), has a second round occurring over the summer - Moelis: Gave first rounds in May, hosting invite-only networking events in NY, will start super days soon imo - HL: RX accelerated super fast just like PJT and have essentially completed as well (NY, LA, Couple Regional), Believe Corporate Finance and FAS are starting late summer/fall - Evercore: RX has accelerated from my knowledge. M&A gave first rounds, but I don't know anyone who received a super yet (Both NY and Houston) - PWP: Started giving supers and offers in May for SF (5+hour superday so hope people don't have to go through that), NY has started or is starting soon - Centerview: Has offered to accelerate people with offers but won't start until mid-late summer from what I've heard - Guggenheim: Had first rounds a while back and supers this month (RX at least)

Bulge Bracket (Only listing the ones that have started from my knowledge): - MS: Menlo Park TMT finished, NY and Houston gave 1r and accelerated supers, don't know of any offers extended - Citi: Done for NY, SF recruiting soon - Barclays: Know of supers that went out, don't know many people that did it but assume offers were extended as well - CS: NY and LA started first rounds in May, don't know where there process stands right now but was informed they would start mid June a while back

Some bulge brackets have opened their online applications with hirevues (yuck) and 1r. More to open in the latter half of the summer.

If you have any other questions about timelines, I'll try my best to answer - goodluck!

Citi SF is done and moelis hasn't started yet (West coast office). Evercore west coast has only done diversity also.

Hey. Do you know when Evercore accelerated? How to apply? Do you know if Houlihan RX already filled the class or only half of the class? Thanks!

Jun 20, 2019 - 2:29pm
EBTT-99x, what's your opinion? Comment below:

Evercore accelerated in late May, but they have only extended offers to people that have other offers. Application is primarily through analyst networking - I think that's the standard these days from my experience.

HLRX has filled about half their class from what I've heard, but it depends on location of course. NY is probably only taking 1-2 more and LA is done. Some of the regional offices have yet to start. PJT RX has definitely stolen a lot of the people with HL RX offers, so the # who've actually signed isn't as much

Only some firms' restructuring arm and regional offices (SF PWP I think and some others). Otherwise, pretty much nothing so everyone has time.

Sorry if this has been discussed before... If already accepted offer for SA 2020 and no intention in further recruiting, okay to put on linkedin and current resume now? or should wait until end of this summer?

Jul 3, 2019 - 4:41pm
RonaSzn, what's your opinion? Comment below:

You could, but what's the point besides bragging? It's not like your sophomore summer internship where you put incoming because you're already applying for the junior summer. Idk about your school, but at mine pretty much everyone in banking only updates their LinkedIn with the SA when they actually start. Exception to this is if you're a rising sophomore right now and the summer 2020 job you got will be your sophomore summer job.

put it on now as incoming so that you when talking to others at your firm prior to working will know that you are incoming. good for networking. start leveraging relationships now then don't fuck shit up when you get there
