US Bank CRE Lending
I’ve accepted an internship in the CRE Group at US Bank, and I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on them? What are my prospects of going into REPE/development? I think it’ll be a solid experience, but just looking for some thoughts on how they’re viewed.
How do you know you want to go into REPE/DEV? You haven't even started the internship.
Some of the people on this board really need to think for themselves and realize that acquisitions and development is such a small segment of CRE. And that segment will continue to get smaller.
Just curious, why do you think they'll get smaller?
I interned at a small local REPE firm in my area this past fall part time.
You’re right on a high level but when it comes to kids on this forum, that’s kind of the point of WSO... helping people from non-traditional/mediocre backgrounds break into high finance. There is absolutely a need for lenders, brokers, accountants, leasing agents, property managers, and construction managers but most people don’t study finance/real estate to fill those jobs, they study those subjects and come to WSO because they want to make money. OP knows acq and dev is where the money is at, nothing wrong with wanting to make money.
OP - yes, US bank will set you up for middle market dev and PE shops. Don’t expect anything institutional coming from commercial bank lending but outlier stories exist. And FYI the mid level RMs you will work for probably clear 250k-400k per year. High performing RMs and bank management can clear 500k.
