Career Resources
Austin is weird to include atm but give it 15 years and it can belong in this category. Austin is closer to a Seattle, San Diego type city imo
Also a bit odd to leave Los Angeles out of this discussion
Interested to hear about Boston
Rent prices are asinine. Almost as bad as NYC / San Fran
BOS pay is good but it's more expensive than most would realize, very densely populated. Benefits are it's near the ocean, sports teams, very walkable, plenty of food, all seasons for weather, and Will Hunting lived there
Fuck the celtics
Dude the rent is super close to NYC/SF/LA and you’ll make 10-15k less then NYC/SF/LA peers. Fun city all around, huge sports presence, nice ocean views, etc. But all in still tier 2 and should be considered as a lower career option for that reason.
Pay can be even higher for some positions though, specifically in asset management... but yeah I hear you.
I go to school in BOS and it's honestly quite affordable by my book. eg. You could live in Brookline, take the D line into Boston proper everyday, maybe pay ~1.2k/month in rent. I personally also like Boston far better than NYC or SF, the city is more charming and is neither too big nor too small for my taste. Also I think people are underestimating the COL difference between NYC and BOS, I'm pretty sure you still come out ahead if you get paid ~120k in BOS vs ~140 in NYC.
Thanks for all the info guys. Seems like all of you said that those in Boston are paid less? Is this true for IB at BB/EB? And where is it reflected, Base salary or bonus?
Austin....New York....not really sure that is a good comp lol
Moelis in Boston?
