U.S. Citizenship - Advantage or Disadvantage?
Hello Everyone,
Background: I will be applying to Msc. Finance programs in the U.K. next Fall. I have U.S. and E.U. citizenship, so I am eligible to work anywhere in Europe or the U.S. I go to a non-target in the U.S.
Question: Does a U.S. citizenship/background help (or hurt) in the admissions process compared to other nationalities? What about when I look for full time positions in the UK? In the eyes of a recruiter, if all things are equal, does a U.S. citizenship carry more/less weight?
I do not expect a clear cut answer on this, but if I had to guess I'd say it would help in admissions and in job recruiting because an education in the U.S. is highly regarded world wide.

Your citizenship doesn't confer any value to your candidacy--- however, having the necessary paperwork qualifies you to be considered for the position (and can potentially result in less paperwork for them than if they had to sponsor a foreign national)
Other thing is, US citizens are taxed globally. Get ready for double taxation. (first 90k are tax exempt though)
