US Coast Guard Academy vs UC Berkeley for IB?
USCGA - Mechinical engineer, free tuition, five year of mandatory service, would love to serve & work hard for our nation, weak to no connections (?)
UC Berkeley - Business administration, out of state tution with scholarship, no service, can work hard enough for a decent GPA, stronger business connections
Which would lead me more opportunities in IB? Is USCGA even good for IB? Will the military leadership serve any purpose or just no benefit?
Very doable from USCGA, you just may need an MBA. Lots of guys go military-->business school-->IB or consulting
All depends on what you do with each opportunity. Berkeley easily has 10x the presence of coast guard, but there are a ton of kids trying to break in from there. If you are passionate about serving our country and are a go-getter then go with USCGA....if you want to have the "typical" fun college experience go Berkeley. Best of luck!
