US$175,000 bonus for 2nd year analyst. Good or bad?
Received communication on bonus today. Slightly higher than last year's - US$175k equiv in Hong Kong dollars. Is this on par with global benchmark (e.g. NYC or London)?

weird flex but okay
Dear Sir:
I have been requested by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company to contact you for assistance in resolving a matter. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company has recently concluded a large number of contracts for oil exploration in the sub-Sahara region. The contracts have immediately produced moneys equaling US$40,000,000. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company is desirous of oil exploration in other parts of the world, however, because of certain regulations of the Nigerian Government, it is unable to move these funds to another region.
You assistance is requested as a non-Nigerian citizen to assist the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, and also the Central Bank of Nigeria, in moving these funds out of Nigeria. If the funds can be transferred to your name, in your United States account, then you can forward the funds as directed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. In exchange for your accommodating services, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company would agree to allow you to retain 10%, or US$4 million of this amount.
However, to be a legitimate transferee of these moneys according to Nigerian law, you must presently be a depositor of at least US$100,000 in a Nigerian bank which is regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
If it will be possible for you to assist us, we would be most grateful. We suggest that you meet with us in person in Lagos, and that during your visit I introduce you to the representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, as well as with certain officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Please call me at your earliest convenience at 18-467-4975. Time is of the essence in this matter; very quickly the Nigerian Government will realize that the Central Bank is maintaining this amount on deposit, and attempt to levy certain depository taxes on it.
Yours truly,
Prince Alyusi Islassis
Incredibly underpaid compared to the states. Rumor at my firm that analysts should be getting double that.......... about tree fiddy
Wait...how many Rupees is that?
Looks good, here's a Hong Kong tax advice: you can deduct your MS from WSO on that amount, should give you a nice tax shield.
TBH no one here is going to give a shit about HK banking Can't model for nuts and weird AF
i’m scared this is legitimate comp
OP works in the 3 american BBs in HK if he is not trolling. Pay seems legit but at the upper end
$175k 2nd year bonus could be legit in HK? Lol get out
At the place i previously worked at they were paying 1/4 the amount OP stated
But I have heard numbers around the 150 for top A2 at the big 3
You mixed up the currency conversion mate. You're supposed to divide, not multiply.
I work at one of the boutiques. Closed 3 transactions this year earned the firm US$17 million in fees. Bonus # is 1.35 million HK$ or what I stated above in US$ equivalent.
You guys are just all jealous.
ah, the comment you were waiting to post
The idea that you “closed” any transaction as a 2nd year Analyst is pure, military-grade non-sense.
If you really "closed" three transactions this year and "earned" the firm US$17M in fees, and only got a bonus of US$175K, then that's fucking terrible and you should probably not be an analyst anymore... so idk why any of us would be jealous since you're the one that is being significantly underpaid.
Your bonus would easily be 7 figures+ if you really brought in and closed those deals. But if you're a second year analyst who played a supporting role on those deals, then it's not bad.
Supporting role as in moving charts on ppt maybe Probably can’t even do a 3 statement Not sure if he even knows what that is
