USB Equity Interview
Hi,
Have a UBS Equities interview. Here is a description of the position:
Interns spend the majority of their summer rotating through various Equities business areas such as: Programs, Cash, convertible bonds, Derivatives, Prime Services, Proprietary Trading, Research Sales and Quantitative Strategies. Daily responsibilities include assisting on sales calls, stock pitch ideas, trade executions and resolutions, providing rapid calculation and analysis of trades, and assisting market makers with trading decisions and logistics.
Any idea the questions (technical) I would get? Anyone else have a UBS interview and can give me some insight?
Thanks in advance.
you probably dont want to call them USB
my bad, typo *UBS
I need insights about UBS Equities too, I had a first round phone interview last week, the interviewer was an ED who is an alumni from my school. I just got a call today that there is going to be a super day sometimes next week, and that I will be having a 2nd round phone interview on Friday. I actually attend a non-target , so there is no OCR by BB's on my campus. Does anybody on WSO have Equities interview experience?
The interview is very fit oriented. Expect very few, if any, technical questions.
Focus more on current events in the market and some basics about equities.
Know your resume well.
Also, focus on:
1) Why UBS? 2) Why Equities S&T (over IBD, ER, PWM)? 3) Why are you the best candidate? 4) Why investment banking?
thanks squawk
So I had interview today.
Pretty much talked bout the experiences on my resume. Since I worked for a mutual fund that focused primarily on large-cap pharmaceutical, I got quite a few questions on that.
He asked me what sector I follow and the obvious answer should have been healthcare but I figured I would impress him with something else.
So I pitched him a stock from energy industrials. I went pretty indepth into it and he seemed impressed.
He was a trader, so I asked him about his career path and his specific desk.
No technicals. Basic behaviorals I got were: Why UBS and Why S&T? Not much talk about the markets.
Hoping I get called back for the superday. Keeping my fingers crossed!
got superday
any more tips/help on what to expect will be highly appreciated
Hopefulxx:
When is the Superday that you have been invited too. I am still waiting for a call back.
How many interviews did you have before you were called for a Superday
Hope I make Superday too.
For the UBS Equities Superday:
You get about 5-6 interviews with ED and MD's. The MDs have more say in the decision making process. It will mostly be 2-1 interviews, at least that was the way it was for me.
The interview questions varies from person to person - but I definitely got lots of brainteasers. 2/5 of my interviews were just brainteasers - though you can't really prepare for these. The other interviews focused a lot on what is happening in the markets, know what's happening in the news, and have a couple stock picks. Hope this helps!
LadyEva,
When did you have your UBS Equities Superday and about how many people were invited for that particular Superday.
They are still moving around my superday. Not sure exactly which one I will be going to.
I had one interview before being invited for the superday. It was an on-campus interview.
Good luck.
but my superday will definitely be in the next two weeks
hopefulxx,
Thanks for the info, that gives me hope that they can still call me for a superday.
