Using an MBA to move into REPE

Hey everyone, currently a consultant at a Big 4 firm looking to move from strategy to real estate investment / private equity. Have done quite a bit of prep, networking, etc. but the job market is definitely tough. Would getting an MBA in RE help to position me for REPE roles coming out of school?

Have solid test scores and GPA so would be looking at east coast schools like Wharton, Columbia, NYU, UNC

You could get there without the MBA in my opinion. I've seen it done many times, people just exit to a client they've assisted. But, the current market sucks for everyone, so don't needlessly go into a ton of debt if you don't have to.

Not sure what your situation is, but everyone I've talked to, including recruiters, brokers, REPE MD's, and mentors have all said that principal hiring should pick up early to mid 2021.
