Using iPad/Tablet for Notes at Work?

Who here uses iPads or other tablets to take notes at work? I'm thinking about getting one for work because I prefer to handwrite vs type, and there are apps that OCR my writing to keep it searchable (and backed up). Plus, I can reduce my own paper waste.

But I don't want to look like an asshole in meetings. I'm also not convinced that I can write as fast on a tablet as I can on paper...

EDIT: My small office uses different note-taking strategies. Some write on paper, some use OneNote (which I'm testing out right now), and others take notes on an email to send to themselves after.

I would look at what other people are using first. I wouldn’t want to be the only person when e tablet if they are all during paper. I think that in college or university it would be fine but I’m not sure about work depends on what you do. As for practice try it in your own first and when you feel comfortable take it to a meeting so that you are ready.

Good point about what other people are using, and I added it to my post. My team uses a mix of paper and digital techniques. So I'm just more worried about if I'll look like I'm trying too hard. (I'm in REPE at a small satellite office of <15 people.)

Right now, I use a mix of paper for to-do lists and OneNote for meeting notes (for searchability and organization). While I appreciate having OneNote to store all my notes, I find myself getting distracted bc I end up transcribing rather than processing what people say.

My firm (a BB) gave senior directors iPad Pros with the magic keyboards. Been considering doing the same now that I see it in meetings more. My plan is to get the same iPad combo with a paper-like screen protector.

p.s. It is more conspicuous when typing. Since you are a handwriting guy/gal I don't think it will be noticeable. Heck you may start a trend as we've all lost paper notes before.

An intern in my SA class did this and he was the only one who didn’t get a return offer
