Using python for fixed income

Anyone has used python for modeling returns? Any resources to learn this?

I just saw a few people on LinkedIn who work at large AMs describing this task. I'm currently an MBA candidate & CFA level 1 candidate, just trying to gauge how coding works for asset management.

Work more with systematic equities but yeah, python is fairly ubiquitous. If you want to prototype investment ideas/signals, calculate risk exposures and/or manage large datasets, Python is typically superior to Excel. Where speed/latency is important, C++ is typically the go-to.

Datacamp and Codeacademy are both good for getting started. The former has a range of beginner level courses with a finance skew which may be of interest.

I'd add that you don't need to be a wizard with python to add value. Importing a .csv, analyzing and visualizing data can often be quicker and isn't that challenging.
