UVa (McIntire) vs. BC (CSOM)
I'm having trouble deciding between the two. Which is better represented and has more recruiting opportunities?

UVA
Def UVA

Yes, definitely UVA.
uva has better placement but u will have a better life at bc.
How?
did happy graduate from uva?
not contesting the statement, just wondering..
i think "pants shittingly wrong" does it justice
also, agree with you 1000%
UVA has better placement in banking for sure, but perhaps not as much for S&T.
Undergrad - UVA econ / BC Carroll / Villanova B-School ? (Originally Posted: 04/05/2014)
My son has been accepted at UVA, BC and Nova. We are looking for advice. UVA seems like the top choice, but you do not go straight into the B school there. They require 2 years in the College and then you need to apply in Soph year to the Bschool. So it is not a sure thing. Need 3.5 + GPA. He is into BC and Nova Bschools day one. So choice seems to be down to UVA econ vs BC business. Thoughts ?? Thanks !
UVA by a country mile. Even non-business majors do fine in recruiting. There's basically no risk.
UVa. Pretty easy decision. Even if he doesn't make it into bschool, the benefits will still be huge:
-Great name -Top MBA program, alumni all over the street and in F500 -Awesome location, Cville rocks and better than Philly IMO- I've never been to Boston -As @"DCDepository" mentioned, the spillover effect from the bschool will only help when recruiting starts -Econ, especially during the first 2 years, trumps any business major IMO. It will give him a great foundation upon which he can go on to specialize later (shameless plug- I'm an Econ major)
At this point, it really comes down to money. If that's not a factor, the decision is pretty clear to me.
Just like everyone said pretty easy decision, UVA is a great school.
Thanks - Appreciate the comments.
Also UVA is roughly $9 k cheaper pa all in.
Yah, 100% UVA.
Well basically been answered but UVA
No brainer. UVA, regardless of whether he's comm school or not.
Been to UVA twice on visits... needless to say its the better social choice, too.
Many Thanks !
I'm currently a senior in high school and oddly enough I have the exact same decision to make: BC's Carroll school or UVa. Obviously I'm hoping to be accepted to Mcintire, but there's really no way of knowing. I see this post was from a few years ago, so I was wondering what decision your son ended up making and if he's happy with it or if he wishes he went a different route? Thanks.
BC Carroll or UVA Econ for IBD and HF (Originally Posted: 05/14/2014)
I hope to go into investment banking and eventually hedge funds. i have been accepted to BC carroll and UVA CAS for econ... which should i choose... completely split
Definitely not an authority here but it seems to me that both are great business schools in the same tier but UVA ranks slightly higher; UVA also has a larger business school than BC. All in all I dont think you would kick yourself for choosing BC over UVA especially for NYC and the northeast.
please do not listen to this, they are not on the same level. UVA is basically a target and BC is basically a non-target for banking, if you want to go into high finance you WILL kick yourself for choosing BC over UVA. Do not choose BC over UVA unless there are extenuating circumstances forcing you to do so.
haven't deadlines for decisions passed by now? anyway, i'm sure people will disagree on this, but i think BC is the slightly better choice
you could make it into UVA McIntire, but you also might not, which would really nerf your chances in this case, my opinion is that you take the bird in hand over the bird in the bush: BC
I am a transfer student so uva is tomorrow and BC is june 5
Thanks everyone!
Need help with decision: BC vs UVA (Originally Posted: 03/31/2016)
I'm a senior in high school and my college search has been narrowed down to BC and UVA. I was accepted to the Carroll School of Management at BC but UVA makes you wait until after your sophomore year to apply to their business school (Mcintire). I'm fairly certain I would like to major in Finance and hopefully find myself a job at a BB. Basically my question is which of these schools would put in the best position to get good internships and in turn good jobs? Prefferably these jobs would be in NYC (I love the city), but I also wouldn't mind working in another city (like Boston). Any input would be greatly appreciated.
UVA, no question.
Agreed on UVA
UVA. McIntire will set you up very well.. but even without it, you're in a target school that has tremendous access to companies, and you can use a lot of the McIntire network even without being in it (student orgs, info sessions, etc. etc.)
