UVA out-of-state vs. UNC in-state for undergrad business

Hi guys,

I'm a high schooler, who, as of today, has the options of pursuing an undergrad business degree at either UNC (in-state) or UVA (out-of-state). I was also placed on the waitlist for Duke and Vanderbilt, but I'm not expecting anything. My question is, is it worth going to UVA and paying about 2-3x as much as UNC for tuition, or should I just stay in-state? My family can afford UVA out-of-state if it's worth it, I'm just not sure how much of a leg up going to UVA will be on UNC. I've yet to tour the campuses, but I feel like I would enjoy UVA a lot more.

Thanks!

It's not worth it. Don't do that to your family. Go to UNC, make good grades, get into Kenan-Flagler, you will be fine.

Also, since you are in state, you should visit UNC's campus soon. UVA too - not far either. I understand that many people don't want to go to their in state school BC a ton of ppl from high school are there, and you may or may not like many of them. Trust me, you will barely see those people if you don't want to.

Kenann Flagler ranks #7 in undergrad Bschool. Darden is #6 in undergrad Bschool. Why pay OOS money to go to an slightly better incremental school? Makes no sense. UNC/UVA have the same reputation and are both targets for IB and they look alike in many ways. I would take the instate tuition an run kid. Save your money for Duke. Another public school like UVA aint worth it. I agree with poster on top.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Just wondering, are there any alumni who can share their experiences with networking/recruiting/job offers from either of these two schools? Thanks again.
