Vacation in Thailand - Things to do/see

Hey guys - I will be heading to Thailand this June, right now it is pretty much an open slate. If you have ever been, share some cool stories or resorts, nightclubs, bars etc. I should plan to visit.

I've heard you can shoot a cow with a rocket launcher for 1k in Thailand.

I think you should investigate this.

It's in Cambodia for sure, not sure completely on Thailand. There's a bunch of videos on YouTube of people shooting fucking crazy, video game caliber weapons in Cambodia.

In this video:

The description states the following:

"In Cambodia the military lets you shoot a rocket laucher at a cow. You can also shoot pigs and ducks with your choice of weapons including a grenade. To shoot a cow with a rocket launcher it costs: $100 american for the rocket, $300 to buy the cow and an extra $100 for a hundred rounds with a K-57 Russian Machine gun (in case you miss the cow with the rocket launcher). In this video you can see the cow at the top of the screen. The shooter missed which explains why he is mad at the end of the video."

So... yeah. Site-wide field trip to Cambodia?

I have been this place in Cambodia. There are two shooting ranges in Phonom Penh which is the capital of Cambodia. You can go there with TUKTUK ( local txi). The one I went is around 30 mins away from center of Phonom Penh. You can just ask a TUKTUK driver to take you there because usually every driver knows that place. And you don't even have to pay for the driver because the driver would get commission from the local millitary if you actually spent money there. I was there in 2014 and still remember the price.

30 USD handgun 50 USD AK47 M16 80 USD grenade launcher or throwing grenade 100 USD machine gun 300 USD rocket launcher 1 USD for each coconut as your shooting target 5 USD for taking pics with guns

I don't know about the price of those animals because I only tried AK47. The local millitary has been doing this business for a long time so they will even provide you a menu.

bkk: kaoh san road ofcourse and sukhumvit (besides the fancy clubs such as supper bed try some of the side streets and just go with the flow) check out the sirocco sky bar for the views buy vodka and redbull in the 7/eleven get a tuk tuk for little money and start drinking oh yeah and go to chinatown to eat seafood, fresh and just awesome

true about the cow, dont remember where this was (and i think it was less than 1k) somewhere also you can play with some drugged out tigers, pretty cool experience as well also if you have time take the night train from the south to bkk or the other way around, its just a cool experience but takes forever

second koh phangan (stay on leela beach in haad rin so you can chill during the day, head to the pool party to start your evenings)

With regards to the scuba diving, the Thailand authorities closed a whole bunch of dive sites to deal with the coral bleaching so many of the premium sites are now off-limits.

I'm not exactly sure whether the following sites are now closed or not but here's what I liked:

Shark Point and Anemone Reef - Everyone recommends them and for good reason Phi Phi - This will require an overnight trip Koh Dok Mai - Nice things to see but there's a strong current for this one. Richelieu Rock - Whale sharks!

Be vigilant and check yourself. Foreign dive operators and all....

I'm in no way affiliated with this site but I recommend turning to scubaboard.com which always has lots of information about the diving sites/things to do.

Thanks for all the information, looking into all of it. The Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan looks like it would be a great time, but unfortunately I will not be there when it happens. I will also be interested in the scuba diving and thanks for the heads up about the jet skis. I guess I should also ask for advice on things I should definately avoid. I don't want to wake up one morning missing a kidney. And, blasting a cow?! Holy Shi*t! is all I have to say about that.

Keep the advice coming, especially as it relates to good resort towns on the coast..

Just checking out this thread and was looking for some more unique things to do for a few 25 year old guys. We will be traveling there this November. On the list so far is:

  1. blow a cow up with a rocket launcher for a few hundred bucks
  2. hang out with drugged out tigers
  3. swim/scuba with the sharks

Anyone have any other unique/thrilling experiences (other than the common/popular touristy crap)?
