Vacheron Constantin Overseas
Hey all - was thinking of getting a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Blue Dial, but I'm not that familiar with how VC authorized dealers work, are they like Rolex? Anything else I should keep in mind if I'm planning on getting one of these?
Great watch, blue dial is getting pretty popular lately. Not like getting a Rolex (so far haven’t seen any long waits, etc). In general of the “top three” (AP, Patek, VC although maybe 4 if you include ALS) VC tends to do worse in resale (if you care about that). But I would say one of the best values (at that level of pricing).
Yeah - I reached out to an AD and they said they could get me one fairly quickly. How much value do they retain on average? Like 60-70%? I doubt I would sell it but would like to know if you have any sense
Yeah I’d say around that range. Sport watches are pretty popular right now, and this isn’t a very expensive piece (for them) so I would say expect around 70% resale, although all depends on the watch trends, etc.
Very good value used, but jumping on the used market. VC is very underappreciated in general right now IMO. You get top tier finishing for way less money than some other brands in the trinity.
It's definitely underappreciated in contrast to the RO and the Nautilus 5711, which is so in demand I would reckon it's overrated. Like cmon, $100k for a contemporary 3-hand watch with date?
It doesn't hack, and the date wheel has a weirdly thin font. The lug-to-lug is also too long for my puny wrist. However, it's a fantastic watch (the dial, the interchangeable straps, the superbly finished bracelet with micro-adjustments) and I would absolutely love to own it some day.
Love it! Right up there with RO from an enthusiast's perspective (not taking into account potential value decrease). Get it on a leather strap and it's even more PIMP
Gotta go rubber!
Yeah, that's a sweet one too! If only there was a way to switch out the bracelet in a seamless way with the Overseas... Oh wait...
Idk if you've tried one yet, but I'm seconding the sizing weirdness. I can normally wear up to 41mm but the lug-to-lug on the overseas is something else. Makes my GSs feel small. I thought the rubber strap might make it better, but it flared out so much that it barely fit under a jacket cuff. Resale value also isn't great compared to the rest of the trinity, but I've had great experiences with Richemont brands in terms of after-sales support (and they don't pull nearly as much artificial scarcity crap as some of the independents these days). If you can pull off the sizing, go for it. I'd take it over an RO if it would fit my wrist
Appreciate the input! Waiting for the AD to have one in stock so I can go try one on, what's your wrist size?
