Valuation Analyst to Boutique IB

Hello all,

I'm currently a senior analyst for a valuation shop with about 2.5 years of experience. My experience is typical of valuation with some m&a advisory experience as well.

I am looking to transition into IB, and looking to get into a boutique, primarily for work life balance. Some questions I have are:

  1. What types of experience should I emphasize on my resume?

  2. What level can I expect to go in at, and pace of growth, based on my current experience?

  3. Similarly, what salary level should I be expecting to take home based on experience?

  4. Any other pointers you could give me would be great.

Thanks in advance.

I spent 2 years as a valuation analyst in big 4 then pivoted to IB and am currently on my 2nd boutique. you’re going to start over or if you’re lucky be credited for 1 year. highlight transaction experience /corporate finance experience no one cares about accounting as they is to be expected. Talk about managing diligence and deep valuation acumen. Basically all the Val work will be super handy on the job but not give you any sort of leg up in recruiting.
