Valuations: Exit Ops/Business School Prospects
I've received an offer to work at a B4 in their Valuations & Business Modeling group and will be interning as a generalist. After the internship specialty groups are an option and I could choose your typical coverage/industry group (healthcare, pharma, industrials, tmt, financial services, etc.) or stay generalist.
This is my only offer at the moment, and it's actually a great place to start - I love the people that I would be working with, and the job will indeed be 60-70% pure due diligence and modeling (from what everyone i've spoken to that works in the office I will be has said; across interns, analysts, and even managers). I'm extremely grateful to have this opportunity.
I have been recruiting for IB, but missed out on a huge majority of recruiting since I just transferred to my school as a Junior. I am definitely still in the game but my network is running dry and I need to consider alternatives.
What are some common exit ops or career progressions for someone that starts out in valuation? Is the lateral to IB "easy" as some say, or near impossible as a minority of others say? Let's say I graduate from my target with a 3.5+ GPA, is M7 MBA doable? I really would like to work in IB, but who knows if that's what I will want a few years from now. I'd like to learn as much as possible about what my future career paths could be - but am definitely excited to start in a technical role like this.
TLDR: Junior transfer at T25 university in US with valuations offer from B4, curious to know what MBA prospects and common future career options/pathways are.
