Vanderbilt for Investment Banking

Seen a lot of discussion regarding Vandy's MBA programme, but not so much regarding its undergraduate programme. How does Vanderbilt fare in terms of placements at EBs/BBs/MFs out of undergrad? Also, is it true that it doesn't do so well for NYC placements because of its location? How does it compare to other semi-targets such as Notre Dame/McCombs/UVA?

From my understanding it is definitely below the 3 schools you listed, but given the school’s reputation you can still get solid looks at most places. It may just be a little harder given they don’t have the strong alumni bases that most semi-targets have.

Sister goes there, so take what I say with a grain of salt.  In terms of volume, there are definitely more kids at banks from UT (obviously because the size of McComb's undergrad class is the size of their entire undergrad class).  Moreover, I'd say ND has a better history of kids wanting to go into banking.  I'd say Vandy is more of a consulting school, but banking is there if you want it.  Anyone she knows that wanted to go into banking is at a BB/EB or Jefferies.  There are people at GS/MS/Evercore/JPM/BofA/Lazard etc.  There are enough alumni to pull for you, it's just up to you honestly.  I'm sure per IB-aspirer the percentage that they get a good IB position is comparable.  At this point, just choose based on fit.  The difference between these schools isn't going to make or break it.
