Vanderbilt Owens MBA

Hi all, strongly considering the Vandy Owens MBA. I'm currently in IB operations at a BB in Nashville, been moved up the ladder once, but obviously don't want to stay in ops the rest of my life. I went to a non-target state school in undergrad so at this point it's looking like MBA time. Pretty sure I can get into Vandy and it seems like really the only good choice in Nashville. Would love to get into front office/IBD, preferably in the South (Nashville, ATL, Charlotte, Texas, Miami). But really, I need out of this boring ops job and S&T or credit risk analysis would even be worth it. Any Vandy MBA alums have advice? Would leveraging a Vandy MBA + 3 years of ops experience be enough to get into front office if I networked my bum off?

Ya I'd think so for sure, especially since you want to stay in the South. I'd go to Owen's website and reach out to student ambassadors pursuing finance and ask them about it. Or sometimes you can find current student emails on the schools clubs websites or just on LinkedIn. Current students would be your best resource and they're usually happy to chat.

If you want to stay in Nashville for your MBA, Vandy is the only good option. However, the program overall is not super strong, so I would also look into others as well (maybe Duke, UNC if you want to stay in the south).
However, IB is definitely doable. Some people go to BBs, bust most to MM like Jefferies, HW, or WF

I was a master's student at Owen, doing their MSF. We take most classes with MBAs, and the classes are decent. Going from BB back office to IB is definitely doable as well. From last year's MBA class, some people that did Marketing and Ops got into IB.
