Vernon Davis or Jordan Cameron?
Who do I start today?
When I'm setting my lineups I usually have a process like this:
View Projections --> View Matchup (Favorable or Unfavorable) --> View Total Points --> View The % with which the player meets or exceeds projected point expectations for the season
The last 3 weeks Vernon Davis has blown projections out of the water and exceeded expectations. It definitely is in large part due to the fact that he injured his hamstring a few weeks ago and has been listed as probable for 3 or 4 weeks which will force his projected totals down each week. It's clear that he is fully recovered from the injury, but he has historically been inconsistent and depending on how Frank Gore is doing, the offense will sometimes barely even target him.
Jordan Cameron is the 2nd ranked TE and has been a baller for me. Projected for 21 today, but has been pretty average to below average the past 3 weeks after putting up pretty insane numbers the first 3 or 4 weeks.
So what do you all think? I don't want to leave Davis on the bench and have him put up 38 points again like he did last week just because of an unfavorable projected stemming from his "injured" hammy.
P.S. - Im in a point per reception (ppr) league, and both have very favorable matchups today, with GB's defense ranked like 25th against the pass and Tennessee's defense poorly as well.
That's a hard decision. I'd go with Cameron. The Titans' secondary is just hard for me to go against, I think they're underrated
D M - as of right now I have Cameron penciled in. I'm just going to set the lineup with Cameron and see what happens.
Thanks for the input
Vernon Davis; SF bias here though. Weeden is not targeting Cameron as much.
I started Jay Cutler and left Matt Ryan on the bench. Week = FUKT.
but... but why
Just because Ryan doesn't have anyone to throw to anymore. Harry Douglas had a big day.
Wow I did the exact same thing, Eddie. Still might pull out the W though
Good call fellas...at least my niners got a W.
Cutler was just the crust on my shit sandwich this week. I'm down 123.8 - 45.4 going into tonight's game, but he doesn't have any players left and I've still got Reuben Randle to play. Fingers crossed he can throw up 80 points for me tonight and save my week.
80 points? Psh that aint no thang but a chickn wing
Haha - at the rate Eli Manning and the Giants are playing at...
Your gonna have to be playing in a league that weights receptions at 20 x's PPR and TD's at like 10 points a clip...Eli will have to go complete 30 passes with 25 to Randle...
As a Jet's fan I hope the Giants can figure something out to salvage the rest of the season for the sake of the city, but with that much of hole, even if Randle has an unheard of game your still gonna take the Loss which you understand.
Brush it off and get ready for next week! Without Cutler, who do you pick up to back up Matt Ryan?

I like their projections a lot more than Yahoo's.
Don't even look at ESPN/NFL.com projections. They're garbage.
Try and sell high on Cameron since you have depth. Weeden is terrible and their defense is good enough to keep them in most games. Cameron's best games this season came either when Hoyer was healthy (obviously a better QB) or when Gordon was suspended (more targets). Most of his catches came late in garbage time yesterday.
Not saying he won't be good the rest of the way, but I think his trade value will only drop from here.
Really, I have been pretty happy with ESPN's projections over the last two years in the leagues I've played in. Granted, the accuracy of the projections will fluctuate for different types of leagues and how they are set up in terms of point scoring for different statistics.
Last year, I had a league with NFL.com ---> Absolutely horrible. I could have produced better projections from an Iphone, 3 hours before game time every week, while living on an uninhabited island in the pacific. The projections had such a wide range and rarely even landed near what would have been the averages. Definitely agree with NFL.com being horrible.
I SB'd you for the analysis on Cameron. I had been toying with the idea of trading him because I have a stable of TE's with he and Vernon, but I decided not to after they traded Trent Richardson figuring they would target him even more (if that was even possible a few weeks ago). I did not even think about the fact that Gordon is back, and he is a baller, so the targets will definitely decrease.
Although Vernon Davis also had an average game yesterday, I was worrying that I didn't start the right guy, Until he Cameron did, indeed, get me garbage stats.
I think I will keep him around for one more week, because points are points, and with Davis being injury prone I don't want to miss out on at least 10pts a game from cameron.
Thanks man!
