Very friendly and kind contact now turns cold
Hey guys... so I got in touch with a contact at an EB a few days ago and he has was really friendly and helpful. He introduced two other friends to me and he said when I saw something on his company's website, tell him and he would pass my resume to HR for that specific position. He also did a free resume check for me. I really really appreciate everything he has done for me.
However, it's been almost a month since we've talked and he didn't reply to any of the emails/ messages I sent (2 follow up emails on my resume, 1 text message)
Does it mean that he no longer wants to help me anymore? What do I do? Thanks a lot
You got in touch with him a few days ago and he was very helpful but it´s been almost a month since you´ve talked? How is that possible?
Oh I misstated the question. Not a few days ago... Like two months ago
He already checked your resume and told you to let him know when you found an open position that you'd like to be considered for, what more could you two possibly talk about? Just give him a call when you need him.
Right... I created this post because he told me in our last phone call that he'd introduce his best friend, who works at an investment advisory firm in NYC to me. I emailed him for a job opportunity later but he never replied. I followed up with another email and no response either. That's why I am a little bit worried.
Maybe the guy is busy or maybe he just doesn't care to help you anymore. Take it on the chin, keep networking and reaching out to other people. If you run into him in the future don't be weird about this situation either.
He probably got busy just reach out to him again
Good Contact Gone Cold? What To Do? (Originally Posted: 10/11/2012)
So long story short:
I met with the head of a product group at a MBB that I got referred to by a contact at a BB. I had a good talk with him. He introduced me in person to the head of their trading analyst program right after my talk. I was told to keep in touch and stay on top of them since they are busy people. So I have been keeping in touch with the analyst program head consistently. The problem is that I haven't been able to keep in touch with the product head even though he said to stay infront of him. I am getting paranoid that if I keep pestering him then it might hurt my chances with the other. Maybe my followup emails suck.
Any thoughts?
Ask to set up a time to talk,or call him.. Sometimes it just doesn't work.
don't write him long, over-thought emails! but call him at a smart time (not when some market is opening or closing and not monday morning or friday afternoon, but maybe wednesday afternoon and ask him to meet for lunch or grab a coffee. probably also is a smart choice to have some kind of news and reason to do this other than "kinda wanted to hang out".
there is only one thing worse than pestering and it's losing a contact because you were too stupid to stay in contact. been there, done that =)
.
Maybe they are just busy and put you on the "reply later" mental list
...and then they forgot. Shit like that happens.
