Villanova Vs. Wake Forest Undergrad business
I have been offered admission to both schools, and want to pursue a business degree. For a finance track ultimately IB/ Hedge Fund which school will offer me better job placement and ultimately MBA? Please Help
Neither....
Kidding, I guess. Know a bunch of people who go to/went to both....think out of those two you'll have to network as they have OK Street presences...Wake's Calloway program is also decent not sure if Nova offers the same undergrad deal.
i'd say theyre both very very close in terms of rankings and prestige...i'd base your decision on other factors
They're on par with each other - I considered both, but ultimately, because they are both non-targets, consider these things most heavily: strength of alumni pool (quantity/quality of alums with positions at BBs and HFs), how well students place into internships and FT positions, how they go about doing so (are they going through OCR? how much networking would it take to find a way in to a BB or HF?). I would also look at the employers that come to campus and the positions for which they recruit. I go to a school similar to Villanova and Wake Forest, and we have some big name firms coming but they're not always recruiting for front-office positions.
If all these factors are equal, consider these last few non-career points: Villanova is often called Villanofun and Wake Forest is nicknamed Work Forest. If nothing else, Nova is closer to NYC which could be helpful/worth it, especially for networking purposes. Good luck.
If I were to attend one of these schools would it be best if I tried transferring to a target such as UVA or Wharton or Cornell?
visit both and go to the one you like better. if you feel you should transfer after freshman/sophomore year, then do it. both are looked upon fairly equal.
Considering there are pretty much equal, I would go with Nova. The kids from non-targets who get FO positions are the ones who really work hard and network the best. Nova is closer to Wall Street (two hour bus ride from 30st street stations to Penn-----very easy and inexpensive). Also, Nova has a study abroad program for freshman that allows them to study in London Spring Semester of freshmen year and gives them a guaranteed internship (10 weeks of classes, 6 weeks of internship). Internship is the same as the one you would receive if you took the BU program and went their over the Summer. You could easily get BB MO or FO Boutique/MM investment banking. The fact that Nova hands you a guaranteed freshman year internship is pretty big, especially when you are looking for sophomore Summer internships. The program is only offered to the top students, but if you ask about/say you want to go, there is no reason why they would not let you.
soooo both these schools are non targets???? which is better for recruiting ? interested in hedge fund... so will either of these schools help or should I look at trasnferring
Honestly Wake Forest is really small and Winston-Salem is boring as shit. Can't speak on Nova but I'd imagine Philly would be better considering these two schools are looked at pretty equally. Figure out where you'd rather spend 4 years of your life instead of worrying about which one will give you a slightly better chance at banking. College is supposed to be fun.
vb at this point it is probably where I want to spend my college life what have you heard about wake? do you go there?
