Good point. Let’s say slight preference for NY. Ultimate goal is PE, but appreciate the skill set/experience gained in banking. Not sure of a specific industry yet. Software doesn’t seem like a bad place to start though.

With that said, would if it be dumb to take a BAML/Barclays/Citi FT IB offer over a Vista PE analyst offer

 

I work at a bank of similar stature to the ones you mentioned and decided not to pursue Vista due to them only hiring in Austin / Chicago. I would not want to give up 2+ years in NYC to move to a city I know nobody in, no matter how good the job is.

I don't know a ton about Vista's program, but I would likely go with that. There are hundreds of super smart kids coming out of 2 years at a BB that are trying to get into PE. If you already have PE experience at this point, you are far ahead of the curve, as there are far fewer people working at a reputable PE firm right out of school. Look into things like where people end up from being an analyst at Vista, but my guess is that they all lateral into other strong PE firms or get MBAs.
