Volunteer Board Treasurer experience?
I just secured a volunteer board treasurer position for a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission I really believe in. I've spoken with the founder/managing director of the non-profit at length and we're aligned on expectations and high-level goals for my position.
However, I'm a little concerned because this will be my first ever treasurer/board position, and looking at the backgrounds of the other board members I'm easily the most junior by a margin of 3 decades or so. Has anyone here ever served on a board of directors as a treasurer or in any capacity? Could you provide some insight or advice on what I can expect, and how I could best prepare myself for success?
For additional context, I'm a few years out of undergrad and my background is in FP&A, operational finance, and more recently Corp Strategy.
Thanks!
