Voyeuristic Monkeys
Recently, I was fortunate enough to shadow a senior PM at a mid-level multi-family wealth management firm in San Fransisco for a week. Apart from a wide range of topics brought up throughout my interactions with not only the PM but many different employees of the firm (HR, RM etc.), the "möbius occurring" topic throughout our conversations was the art or maybe just the act of shadowing employees. The PM told me how instrumental his "stealthy" shadowing of senior employees and even juniors who had been victim to nepotism at some firms was to his career development.
With that being said, I was wondering what the community opines on shadowing at various points in one's career or how shadowing can be either resourceful or time consuming or detractive of observable merit when working.
