Wait a second, Cornell has decent looking girls.....?

So during my SB a few weeks back I went out to Cornell for a weekend to visit a good friend. I know, why the hell would anyone go to Cornell during Spring Break? Unfortunately, the money I had been saving to go to Mexico decided that it would rather stay at the variety of casino's, strip clubs and d-bag night clubs I had attended when I went to Vegas on NYE-- but that's a whole different story. Anyways, the first night I got there my friend and I made the rounds. As we continued to meet up with girls that he knew, I kept asking the same question: Do all these chicks go here? I couldn't believe how many decent looking girls there were at this school.

In the essence of full transparency, my buddy was a pretty cool guy and an athlete to boot. Needless to say, he was definitely privy to upper echelons of hottness wherever he went. Also, it should be noted that I attend a target school that has not exactly been blessed with female talent. But before you question my frame of reference, realize that I grew up on the beach in So Cal, so I am well aware of what a 10 looks like. That being said, there were not any 10s at this school-- although, if you believe that a 10 exists at an Ivy then I know a great money manager named Bernie who you should definitely invest with. However, I was amazed at the number of 8s an 9s that I was introduced to. Moreover, they were extremely approachable. I have hung out at Harvard, and a 7 at Harvard thinks that she is god's greatest gift to the earth. Although, you would too if your were head and shoulders above everything around you. Anyways my point is this, for a random guy, trying to hit on a 7 at Harvard is kind of like trying to talk to a GS recruiter, if you don't approach it with caution and the utmost preparedness then your going to get hammered.

This, however, was not the case at Cornell. These girls were loving everything that I said to them, even the crap that not even the drunkest freshman at my school would fall for. I couldn't go wrong. I felt like Tiger during the last round of '00 open at pebble, even my worst shanks were still landing on the green-- I spilled beer on a girl and instead of freaking out, she asked me to walk her back to her dorm so she could change her shirt. I won't go in to details but lets just say I had a good weekend. It wasn't until the drunken arrogance wore off when I realize that my success had less to do with me or far more to do with the other guys at the school. These guys were complete d-bags and, from my perspective, they had no clue how to talk to girls.

Quick tip: no girl wants to hear about how crazy the hours were at your summer internships or how intense your last round of FT interview's were. If you don't know anything to talk about then just let her ramble on about how she is going/went to Darfur to vaccinate young orphans, and do this until she runs out of things to say or when she perceives that you are actually are interested, then you make a move. Just cause you think that the market is awesome and fascinating doesn't mean that the gender studies major does also.

Maybe its the hotel management program, something that would obviously attract more superficial girls and not as many cool guys. Real men don't manage hotels, they leverage buy them. So for all you guys graduating this year with decent social skills and looking at the lower tier ivy's, I would highly consider Cornell. Why? Because it's kind of like the Russian Oil markets in the 1990s, tons of resources and very few talented individuals capable of capitalizing on it.

Looks like I'm hitting up the Cornella town.

I do go to a target, but I am athlete so you'll have to give me a break on the grammar. Just to clarify, I would not characterize Cornell as a school with a lot of good looking girls. Most of the girls on that campus looked like Chelsea Clinton circa 1997. I was only pointing out that there is a small minority of decent looking girls that were fairly easy to pick up on given the total lack of socially competent guys at that school.

Glad some of you liked the post. If you were entertained and feel the need to show your gratitude then I would greatly appreciate a little advice.

I am trying to break in to Sales & Trading. Pros: varsity athlete (D-1), also earned All-American. GPA is a 3.7 at a solid target. Cons: no relevant experience due to athletic commitment and I am a history major. I did take and get an A- avg in macro and micro econ, managerial and financial acct, intro to business, and other less technical business classes. I am not going to kid myself in thinking that I have the quant skills to be a high frequency trader, but I do think I have the aptitude and necessary soft skills to be very successful on the sales side.

You guys should really get out of the northeast corner of the US for a few weeks, because the girls are pretty bad in that part of the country.

I have a friend that graduated from Cornell and he keeps talking about how these (below) average girls look so hot and I just shake my head. If you want good looking girls then go south to states like Texas or Arizona. Plus that buddy of mine admitted that the girls in Cornell are not that good looking, and this coming from him means that it must be pretty bad.

Based on how surprised you were with Cornell, I'm just going to take a wild guess and say you go to Dartmouth. Every other target I can think if is either A. near a city (hot girls love cities) or B. has a solid business program despite letting in retarded (read: hot) instate girls. Given this, your reaction to Cornell would be pretty expected.

For the record, my school is a lot better in terms of girls than Cornell , its kind of a mix b/w A&B. Like I said before, by no means would I classify Cornel as a school with a lot of good looking girls. I should have probably put the story in better context. From everything I had heard about Cornell and my experiences of visiting friends at other Ivy's, I was expecting to the girls there to look like Chernobyl refugees. So I was pleasantly surprised to meet a group of girls that defied this stereotype. I would not say that I was exposed to the entire population. I am sure if I showed up for a stats class my perception would be different. hot girls act a lot like factory laborers, like fucking unionize. They know they have power in number so they stick together and recruit others who share similar talents. As a hot girl you have have no choice but to join the union because if you defy them the you get labeled a whore/slut (quite similar to a scab) . See Union rules here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/cornells-pi-phi-sorority-dress-code.

There are hot girls just about everywhere. At the Ivy I went to one of the girls in my class did professional modeling (Abercrombie and Fitch and some other stuff). Not a 10, but definitely attractive (although her personality sucked).

Ivy schools are northern and academically focuses. If you were some hot, blonde bimbo would you rather be at Dartmouth or U of Florida? Really smart girls tend to be less focused on looks and more ambitions. This ambition causes them to try and minimize their sex appeal because they would rather be valued based on their brains and accomplishments than how short their skirts are.

think every ivy league school. and dont get me wrong. i'm not saying smart girls are less attractive. thats just not true. i'm just saying that chick hotness is directly correlated to the weather. its true. if youre on the east coast do you think a stereotypically hot, smart girl is going to prefer going to Duke or Penn? lets be honest here. alternatively, on the west coast, Stanford/Berkeley or UCLA? easy choice. the further up north you go, the worst it gets. there is obviously an exception to this rule of course, and that exception is Minnesota. honestly i have no idea why but there are some sexy girls in that state. its kind of ridiculous really.

I don't get why every high school male is obsessed with Ivies. Shouldn't they be cherry picking an SEC school? http://www.sportsline.com/spin/story/9920854

Don't bash the OP on this. In general they are pretty beastly. Not true of all the ivys. Cornell has a way to really rope them in.

i think smart girls in general are unattractive. why do you think theres a greater percentage of hot chicks at state schools than ivies? hot girls dont needs smarts to be successful, they can just marry rich.

but the smart ones who ARE hot... they are true gems because their snobby, pretentious personalities makes them all the more desireable.

as always, i know this is a gross generalizations, i dont actually think every smart hot girl is snobby. smart, rich, attractive people tend to be stuck up/pretentious in general because they have everythign going for em and they know it.

I think, and this is a LARGE generalization, that hot girls don't usually become smart. If I think of the girls that started getting the guys attention in junior high, they stopped all mental development right there and are all in the same place graduating college and getting married. The girls that it was ok for them to get smart either went to good schools and stayed ugly, or got hot later. The ugly duckling syndrome is your friend.

spot on. i love the nerds in high school who become hot in college

I can't remember which comedian said it, nor his exact words, however it went something like this, "Hot girls don't have personality, they're hot. Only fat, ugly, or mediocre girls have personalities, this is to make up for the fact that they aren't hot."

In this vein, I must say, the talent at any institution of higher learning that actually has a decent program tends to lack in talent. This includes the Ivys, most good b-schools and anything that is a true IB target. After a year or so in banking, girls who in the SEC or Big 10 weren't even a 5 (out of 10) start to look mighty good if they work on your floor.

You have been forwarned.
