asking / reminding HR on reimbursement?
So I went to a lot of invite only recruiting functions where HR said they would reimburse you for travel etc, except it's been a month and I haven't received anything. With the new semester and cost of books etc, I actually need the reimbursements asap (I think it's over $1000 by now).
Would it seem kind of cheap to remind HR?
Shoot HR an e-mail and say something like, "I wanted to follow up on the xyz event...I enjoyed meeting the people and learning about the company, etc... I also wanted to follow up on the reimbursement because I did not receive any information regarding this"
So I suggest starting it off differently and then leading into the reimbursement.
Ok, thanks.
Why bother with being flowery? Just get to the point and ask for what you want!
Either way should be fine, hope you get your money!
it's not their money, it's the firms so your not being cheap. be very firm and concise in your email, let them know that you want your money back and that they should hurry up. sometimes a blunt approach is the only way to speed things up, they dilly dally alot
It's not cheap - i've asked in person straight up be like i ahven' received my reimbursement - where's it at
LOL!
Owed reimbursement for interview: HR contact is MIA (Originally Posted: 01/06/2011)
The firm flew me up to interview with them early November. I had to charge some costs to my credit card and have still not been reimbursed. Worse yet, the HR contact is MIA. I have emailed her about 3 times, called and straight to voicemail. etc . At this point, I am just upset at the lack of responsibility. Anyone had a similar experience?
Usually HR is good about that sort of stuff, slow, but they get the money to you... even if you did not accept the offer... was this a small firm?
She asked me to fax her the info. and never confirmed receipt of fax or my subsequent 3 emails. it's bloomberg for crying out loud. maybe I shouldn't mention it on this forum... but why can't she reply to an email?
No. Goldman gives superday candidates a temporary corp Amex to charge all recruiting-related expenses to. Solution. :)
Yes, but GS is flawless in its execution of almost anything. I cannot believe I am the only one this sort of thing has happened to.
My final rounds they just whipped out a black bag and just handed out cash to all the guys interviewing on that day.
A certain UK bank which was bailed out by the government wrote me a cheque which bounced. True story. Believe it or not, it happened in 2009. I had to chase them for 4 months!
haha. i bet it was RBS. ok. so chasing is the key.
I'm on the same boat as the OP with one of the banks I interviewed with back in October. Turned in my reimbursement form shortly after getting back to campus, still haven't received a check in the mail. It has been well over 2 months now. They claimed it would take 4-6 weeks.
Waiting on interview expenses reimbursement - wat do? (Originally Posted: 03/19/2014)
I had an in person interview last Thursday in Houston for equity research on an associate level. They told me to keep the hotel receipts and cab receipts for reimbursement. I took pictures of them with my smartphone and mailed them to the HR lady who organized everything, but I haven't heard anything back.
Is this normal practice? Serious question - I'm unfamiliar. I'm off-cycle if that makes a difference (graduated in 2009)
What would you guys do in this situation? Another thing is that I don't know the status of the job yet either, if I got it or not.
It took me 6 months to get a reimbursement check back when I was interviewing for FT
Same thing happened when i interviewed for FT at BlackRock: interviewed in November, got reimbursement in May..
Gotcha. Guess I'll wait around then. I'll follow up on Friday about the job itself since they didn't give a timeline.
