Wall Street in Miami
With all the hype surrounding firms relocating to Miami, would it be wise for me to attend UMiami? I’m enrolled in a top college in NC (WF/Davidson, not Duke level though) it has quite a big presence in Charlotte IB. The question is should I apply to UMiami? I deferred my enrolment to 2021 due to the pandemic and with all the hype surrounding Miami would it be a wise decision to consider UMiami? It would be a downgrade in the ranking (according to Niche) but is it worth it? My end goal is to get into HF with the normal 2 year stint in IB then hopefully an M7 MBA
No. UMiami is very overpriced for what it is.
just re-apply & get into an actual target lol
I didn’t really do anything meaningful during the last 8 months to justify getting in lol, my application looks exactly the same as it did last year and with the increased amount of applicants I doubt that the outcome would be any different, it’ll just be one big fat rejection
I doubt firms will magically start restructuring hiring processes. If you can go to a target then that would be worth transferring to. Firms are still going to value Ivys and Ivy - adjacent over other schools because that is where most of their current staff went and it’s the easiest filtering process.
Just because Wall Street is liking FL's business environment and SoFla's weather more and more, doesn't mean they feel the same way about the schools down there. I would not place any weight on The U's standing improving in recruitment in any way from the current ongoing relocation trend.
1. I don’t think this is happening. If anything it will be back office.
2. it takes years to build an alumni base at a firm. University of Miami would not magically become a target overnight.
