Chris Carey of Wall Street Mentors sits down with the Rob Bauer to discuss how he broke into the private equity industry coming from a small, midwestern liberal arts college. Rob outlines what skills he developed that helped him get a job at Sterling Partners, a $1 billion private equity firm, as well as how he marketed these skills.
Rob has nearly a decade of experience investing $2.2 billion in assets for private equity and hedge funds. He is co-founder of a private equity strategy that generated a return of 58% by improving the profitability of the portfolio companies through strategic, operational and financial initiatives. Rob has completed 15 private equity transactions in his career including leveraged buyouts, dividend recapitalizations, joint ventures, add-on acquisitions and turnaround restructurings. In his role as top advisor to the Chief Investment Officer of a $1.2 billion multi-strategy hedge fund, Rob led efforts to improve and expand the firm's investment strategies, which focused on investments in companies in the energy, insurance, manufacturing, distribution, consumer, real estate and financial services industry.
